Augsburg safety Hakeem Bourne-Mcfarlane was another player who was in consideration late in the game.
I was looking for him on your list Pat. Hopefully he shows even more of his talent on the field this fall and earns recognition at the end of the season.

Concordia's Schedule and outcome predictions

Jamestown - Win
BVU- Win
St Olaf- Win - MIAC Opener at home, Oles with a "new" coach but not enough to stop the Cobbs
SJU - Win - Despite all the optimism about the Johnnies I think that after a beatdown by the Tommies the Johnnies will have a little hangover when the Cobbs roll to town
Bethel - Win - Revenge Game enough said. And it's Homecoming in Cobber Country (Fingers crossed pick)
Hamline- Win
Augsburg- Win- It's going to be a shootout again 42-41 Cobbs
Carleton - Win
St. Thomas- Loss- in TommieLand and they are good
Gusties- Win and playoff berth!

Of course it's the nature of my Homer psyche, but the Cobbers lose seniors on Offense but return a lot of starters on D from the looks of it (Which was pretty good last year and defense wins championships right?

Maybe it's because I haven't seen anyone play yet, but after this year I might have a better understanding of what the MIAC is all about! Until then it's Cobbers all they way!

Yeah, I almost put him on the list. My only hesitation was I only saw the BU game and the camera work was super sketchy, making it difficult to really get a handle.

Whew.  Five teams that supporters think wil have no more than two losses. It's going to be a grand collision at the top.

(And a whole lot of heartache when you suckas find you're wrong.)

I ticked off a "never thought I would do that" last night.  I saw Liverpool vs Melbourne Victory at the MCG in front of 95k people.  Soccer is boring to start with, but a friendly match with no consequence is more boring still.  But at least I saw a Premier League side take the pitch.  St Peter has to give me some credit for that.

(It's a sea of red.  The Victory would have been lucky to have 10k supporters there.)

No offense intended here Oz, but that is one terrible venue for taking in a soccer game (or football for that matter). How far away are the stands on the side with the enormous jersey painted on the field? Cricket fields clearly aren't very conducive to non-cricket events, from a purely fan experience point of reference. At least for the third that get stuck on the wrong side of the stadium... :-\

You've got that right, hazzbeen. The G isn't good for sport beyond cricket and Aussie Rules. The venue gets used whenever there's a big crowd to be had, though. The soccer/rugby stadium doesn't hold 30k.  The other cricket/footy stadium in smaller (and indoors with a retractable roof) and holds only 55k.

But that gives you some perspective on the size of the ground Aussie Rules is played on. A lot of running.

(The soccer pitch, by the way, was dead square in the middle on the G there was just as much room on the other side without the jersey)

Just because it's lunch time and I'm looking to kill 10 minutes (and I'm sure you've got lots of interest), here's a couple shots of the MCG, hazzben.

The first is an aerial view of the G set up for the Commonwealth Games a couple years ago.  The soccer pitch is the grass while the actual turf of the ground is covered clear out through the blue.  The second is a wide pan shot of a footy match (which I notice is Essendon vs Hawthorn).  If you're not playing footy or cricket (or have a small crowd) it can get pretty lonely out there, I would think.

Looks pretty lonely even if you're watching footy or cricket, though I haven't done either.  If the action is taking place on the other end of the field, you've got to just be watching the jumbotron.  Maybe NASCAR could make a trip down under, MCG doesn't look much smaller than Bristol.

Wow.  I take a short vacation and this place explodes with activity!  Well, I am back.

I don't recall any discussion of beer the last few days so you didn't really miss that much, Duff.  ;)

If anybody cares or can offer a suggestion I would much appreciate it ... I will have bunch of friends and family going to the UST opening game to tailgate before the game...(Yes my first time!)  After I checked out the tailgate "Rules" posted on the UST website is it really worth it?  Or should I go to a local Tavern or Bar? (basically is the Beverage policy enforced at the UST tailgate?)

Any suggestions?

The tailgate "Rules" are ridiculous. However, you are able to tailgate in the south campus lots. Bring plastic solo cups (never red) to pour the libations into and you will be fine.

That said, if you're looking for a watering hole (pre or post game) I've always been partial for Tiffany's on Ford Parkway & Cleveland Ave. Great food, excellent tap beer selection & best people around. I used to bounce and sling drinks there during my UST days though, so I am definitely biased.
