Tommie's vs. Johnnies... if you were to handicap the game now before the season what would the spread be???

You are joking right?

UST
*3-Time National Coach Of the Year
*National Runner-Up 2012
*A boat load of returning, experienced players

SJU
*Retirement of the winningest coach in the history of the game
*Rookie head coach- trying to cobble together a squad after the worst W-L record in decades
*Game being played at UST-with game time being 1:10PM- Evil Neighbor- are you kidding.....

Handicapping this one is a no-brainer

Right...SJU by 3

That's what I'm thinking....if we can find a kid to replace Jimmie Mattson  :-\
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Watching and DVRing the 2013 D3 football championship on ESPN3...looking forward to watching the U$T meltdown...didn't really watch the last moments last December.  I...unlike Glen knew the game was over in the last minute.

So that was one of the goofiest 2 minutes of football I've ever watched...not to rub salt into any wounds (ok...maybe I am doing that a bit) but I never really watched the last 2 minutes.
First I'll admit that I had the game on the TV back in December but w/ Mount Union up by 18 and a few pale ales in me I kind of stopped watching.
Second...why did U$T punt down 18 points w/ 2 minutes and change to play?  I understand they had fourth and mile but to give the ball back on a punt was tantamount to giving up.  During the timeout after the punt Caruso was shown on TV imploring and revving up his defense but down 18 and on D w/ barely 2 to play the game was over.
Third..the chippy play by U$T in the final minute was pretty sad...Mount Union and everybody watching knew the game was over...take your medicine and go home...and burning all three timeouts in the last 30 seconds was just strange
Fourth...I wouldn't really call what I watched a meltdown...more like a team that hadn't been challenged all season having a difficulty dealing with the fact that their season was going to end with a loss.

That doesn't square with this...

And to be honest, we should all at least appreciate St. Thomas.  They show the best of the MIAC, and what the MIAC can be. Thank God we have St. Thomas as a counterpoint to the U of M.

Just noting.

Watch the Division III championship on ESPNU this morning and was very impressed with St. Thomas. I believe they have the ability and great chance on winning this year.

It's August!!!  Camp is just around the corner.  Oh the memories of two-a-days...

Johnnie Red

Mr.MIAC, I would be happy to bring the Stiftungsfestivities tailgate to UST for the Johnnie/Tommie game. Speaking of the Stiftungsfest, it will be the weekend of August 23 in Norwood Young America. This will be the 152nd year of the celebration.

Sounds good. By the way, where is the best place to buy purple cups? Those red ones are just so pedestrian...

Purple cups?  I'd expect something more high-brow from you.  ::)

Well, the DC-based UST contingent will roll in with a 24-gun salute, Champagne cocktails, and caviar flying out of our a$$e$. I thought the beer cups would make y'all more comfortable...

You can clear up that caviar problem if you add this to your beverage list.
