For those of you that follow MN high school football...what do you think of this?  Elimination of football conferences by 2015?

I think it is probably time.  The current set up is really not working very well for football.

I like it if they can make even groups of 8 so they could crown a champ in 7 games and have 1 out-of-district game.

Way off topic, but is Eden Prairie the new Edina/Minnetonka?  I was talking with a buddy from the Twin Cities and he referenced "Eden Prairie elites." I enquired and he explained that Eden Prairie is now a high status community akin to the others.  I left the Twin Cities over a decade ago and this didn't seem to be the case back then.

You're on topic, scheduling problems with Eden Prairie, Edina, Minnetonka, Wayzata and Hopkins (the Lake Conference), is a big reason they're thinking of changing the football conferences.   Minneapolis South is apparently the only school willing to play with the big boys in the Lake, but their school district wouldn't let them.

Because of section re-alignment, my old high school Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton, is playing a 9 man regular season and then has to move to 11 man for the playoffs.  The section re-alignment happened after the regular season schedule was already set so they had no choice but play a 9 man schedule.  Weird.  Parents will be happy to see a couple more kids get off the bench and on to the field I guess.

Once they move to 10 divisions, you'll have to change class every time an Irish family moves into or out of town.

And when you consider the changes being proposed it really won't affect the teams in that 9 man conference all that much.  In fact I think the conference includes the same teams as the section.

This is really about having teams play a more balanced schedule and limit long distance trips.

I hate to see the conferences go but things change. The Iron Range Conference is long gone now I suppose. I don't even know. So I guess it's more romantic to me than important.

Change away.

It's far worse than that Oz.  Grand Rapids is playing in the Central Lakes Conference this fall with terrible teams like Sartell  :o and Willmar.  Good luck with that 200+ mile high school rivalry.  They might as well join the Lake Conference and solve some more scheduling problems.

Camp start dates are different for each team because of the NCAA formula from what I understand ??? ???  number of practices per day and the mix of conditioning vs. full contact how many days per 7 day calendar... That how it was explained to me!

I hope this isn't a U$T tailgate!!!

That was a pic from Harvard/Yale.

No offense to my alma mater, but unless it's a Tommie/Jonnie game, the tailgate is more likely to look like this: http://cbstailgatefan.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/1-jets-parking-lot.jpg
