"Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it's much more serious than that."

"When I played pro football, I never set out to hurt anyone deliberately - unless it was, you know, important, like a league game or something." - Dick Butkus

New coaching hires. Exciting. Fasching is greatly increasing my expectations. I wonder how different a Grant HC would be at this point?  The structure and such of the coaching staff couldn't enmuch different. The trip to Canadia to play criminals an drunks would probably have been the same. All very interesting.

Anyone notice that CT has a habit of posting pics of morbidly obese women?

If you're the type that hates high school transfers, you'd probably note that Mike Grant has apparently "recruited" the best player in the state Jeff Jones to run for him this fall.  Just think who he could have recruited if allowed to make a couple calls.

*edit*Maybe Jones isn't transferring after all.

They're neither attractive nor humorous, and, IMO, this isn't the place for it.  Leave it for emails at your office with your Tommie friends, CT.

I agree! His misogyny is disturbing.

No official prohibition against such, of course, but common sense should dictate, ChicagoTommie.

Heckendorf is my boss's nephew.  With that name he should fit right in with the locals.  ;-)

The long arms of the Johnnie network...

I was at the Australian Masters golf tournament about ten years ago wearing a red Johnnie ball cap and a fellow Johnnie walked up and said hello.  That was interesting.

Another time a couple years ago the wife and I were driving into town and traffic banked up near a tram stop.  I saw two young women there wearing Bennie t-shirts so I rolled down the window leaned out and said, "Are you two girls from St Ben's in Minnesota?  I'm a Johnnie!"  They looked at me like I was straight from casting for Silence of the Lambs.  Mrs Oz said that was about damned dumbest thing she's seen me do and she's seen a few.

[ed note: Melbourne is full of trams.  The 1920's network was never decommissioned and has been expanded throughout the suburbs.  Very quaint.

The Twin Cities are considering spending billions on street cars.  We're working our way backwards.  We'll have the homeless operating mass-transit rickshaws before you know it.

Yea, Minnesota is bound & determine to not let Detroit steal the spotlight for all the brilliant government decisions.... Exhibit A- Electronic pull tabs to cover the state's financial commitment for the new Vikings stadium.... how's that working :'(

Working ourselves backwards is a kind way of putting it.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

My favorite part of Ireland was Connemara and the Kylemore Abbey, especially.

the first time I visited Cape Town with my wife I was sitting at the Waterfront and saw girl in St. Ben's shirt walking toward me. I stopped her and had a similar conversation and she had a similar reaction. If she'd been carrying pepper spray I'm sure she would have used it. Last week we were going through photos and saw the one I took with her -- she stopped long enough, even smiled -- and my wife said, "Remember when you terrified that girl?" Well that's not how I remembered it.
