including #13 Tom Sawyer.  The Johnnies must be up for an adventure this year.

45 / 190 are out-of-staters.  That's got to be a record for SJU.  Hopefully, that shows some of the recruiting effort put in this year, and it's bound to pay off!

I wonder if Ma and Pa Sawyer are Rush fans or Mark Twain fans?  My bet is Rush.  ;D

Maybe not this year, but I agree it's bound to pay dividends in the not too distant future.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

And Louisiana, Montana and Arizona. And from eyeballing the list I think well over half of them are freshman. Someone has been hitting the pavement out west.

And my anticipation ratchets up another notch... Not because outstaters play better football but because you can't get numbers like that without a recruiting effort (along with the 10 Minny all-stars). And recruiting was a big complaint the last few years. Obviously, we're yet to see how the recruiting pays out but it is happening like never before.

And the trip to Canadia.

If I were a Tommie fan I might be feeling a little like Admiral Yamamoto in Tora Tora Tora: "I fear all we have done is awakened the sleeping giant and filled him with great resolve."

I see what you're getting at, but if the MIAC has ever had a sleeping giant that is now awake, it is U$T.

That being said, as much as it has been entertaining to read all of the "sky is falling" posts around here the past few years, I also hope to see SJU back in a more competitive form.  Things in the MIAC just don't seem quite right when SJU is a middle of the pack team.  Right behind a first place BU will do just fine.   :D

Boys of Fall

Agree the sleeping bear was awaken in U$T a few years ago.  And until someone knocks them off you obviously have to give them the nod again this year, but will anybody be able to stop the Auggie offense?

I agree.  UST was a sleeping giant and is now awake.  Let's hope that this recent stretch of winning becomes a dynasty, with many great college football moments.  If so, UST may then join the ranks of its Catholic brethren:

Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

Nice!

I don't recognize any of those kids from California schools that are perennial football powers.
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

After watching the first 8 minutes, I now know what I will be doing tonight! I love when they scan the sidelines and there are some Johnnies with a "Mount This" sign. Makes me giggle like a junior high boy every time! I wonder if I can fit in my #409/ Bethel game DVD tonight too! ;D

Vista Murrietta, who provided, I believe, 5 players on the Johnnie Roster has been one of the better teams in their section for some time.
