I Know!!!! and he is not the only one, they got this other kid from Wisconsin who is at least 6'6'' and 330 lbs also!  he look like he eats a whole cow for breakfast ??? plus many others... they look deep at OL and DL for sure...I love the fact that they are throwing food at these guys like every few hours...I say just put a feed bag on them already ;D ;D

Yeah, I remember the days when I could eat non-stop.  Those days are gone.  These kids will have a reality check when they are finally out on their own and they realize how much they spend on groceries!  I remember telling myself, "Wow, I must have cost my parents a fortune on groceries."

Vegas, know what you mean.  I was the youngest of three and the biggest.  When I came home for Christmas leave after I joined the Navy I discovered that my father had gone out and bought a nice Case yard tractor, with the 48" mower deck, the snow plow and a roto-tiller attachment for the back.  I asked why he couldn't buy them while I was still home and his answer was, "I don't have to feed you and your friends anymore and realized how much extra money I had at the end of every month now and I don't shovel snow or push mowers anymore."

The days of 4-bowls of cereal for breakfast, decimating the pizza buffet, and drinking beer like water are long gone.  It really hits you when you aren't working out 4 hours a day!

I realized that when I stopped working construction and landscaping and moved indoors to a machine shop.

Nice Q&A session with Coach Caruso. This season has me excited! Just booked my ticket back to Minnesota for the Tommie/Johnnie game. Should be fun.

BS: When you talk about the season to players, do you talk about a championship run or do you talk about just getting better?
GC: Both. Certainly you can't put the cart before the horse. We start with the logistics of how we're actually going to work. But we're not going to be shy or afraid of mentioning what our hopes and dreams are. From the day we got here, it was to win the national championship and we said that five years ago and far be it for me to eliminate that from our verbiage now. But we have to be very clear in understanding that we don't control that. We control our work.

I think Caruso meant to use the word vocabulary.  The use of verbiage is hysterically ironic, especially if you follow his quotes from the last 6 years.

Verbiage: Speech or writing that uses too many words or excessively technical expressions.

Any Johnnies willing to share their feelings on who the starting QB will be week 1?  Who you'd prefer to see?  Who you expect to see?

QB rotation a la the 2011 season?  I've never seen Martin play, so I don't have much to go on.  Bruns looked pretty comfortable in the pocket last year vs BU...it would have been interesting to see how the defense handled a more mobile QB.

I do not think you'll see a QB rotation.  I really, really hope not.

Martin impressed me.  He's young, but I liked what I saw.  Bruns did well, too, though.  I really think it's a toss-up, but if you press me, I'm going with Martin.

The words coming from the coaching staff indicate to me that they want nothing to do with a rotation.  I'd have to bet on Martin, based on the fact they'll have him 2 more years after this year.  That said, I would not be surprised to see Bruns.  Hopefully, with a better supporting class, either will be successful.

Nope.

I saw that quote yesterday and it was the most heartening thing I've read about the Johnnies in a while. The last few years of the QB shuffle have been painful to watch so of all the things I've read this year I like that best. I also like the tone of some players Frank Rajkowski's blog posts. It seems like things are the same but just more intense. Intensity is good. It helps build commitment and ambition. I also liked some talk from Fasching, I think, where he said he was looking for a QB that executed without mistakes. Decision making and skill precision is so important, I think.

Anyway, my reading last night has me thinking that things could be good this year: discipline, intensity, commitment. It's all you need. I know we are extremely unlikely to win the conference but I bet this team will win the hearts of the Johnnie faithful for Fasching.

Can't argue with the guy's results, but Caruso's speech patterns remind me of the telemarketing trainer who belittled me when I told him I was quitting after few days on the job and then made me go into the parking lot with him, where he proceeded to taunt me by showing off his "Beamer," pointing out it was something I could never achieve because of my loser attitude.

As I sit here at another job I don't like, refusing to eat the catered food that comes every Monday because it's the same Italian place as the previous 378 weeks and by this point just the sight of their pizza makes me want to vomit, not to mention the smell, I can say that...yes, he was right. I can't buy a Beamer and I can't play free safety for the Tommies.

But one day I'll get one, drive it back to Minnesota, track that guy down and run into his in the parking lot.
