Make one wonder if those "special viewings" for distant alumni are a good cash-raising source ...

But definitely disappointing.

"Et tu, Brute?" really??? I have upset the masses that much? You guys again need to take a step back you are way too invested in this board.  Just stirring the pot and I don't mean anything personal... for you to be personally offended by few posts that are attacking SJU and a public figure, and nobody else personally on this board.  Moreover to judge me personally, to haphazardly bring my family in the mix and even suggest that you guys get my address! Are you kidding me and I am the one with the issue! Wow where is the Board police now!  Should I look over my shoulder now! Give me a break already! Like I said this is not personal just trying to have fun with banter.  Don't worry I can handle myself but I am shocked that you have an issue with me stirring the pot. :o

I guess its Tommie Johnny Week and I love it!!!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D
:
Anybody want to meet in person I will be at the tailgate, please for friendly banters only...Come on Guys let's keep it fun!!! :D :D :D

Season ticket holders not threatened. Students not threatened. That leaves about 4000 walkups at $7 ticket which are. Say 1/3 are locals that would rather sit at a computer than drive 10 miles to the game (like our own Bob Dylan). At $5 a game online lets say, that $2 * 1333 by $5, or 533 customers in addition to the 1300 that watch from home to break even on gate receipts. Add $2000/game on production costs above what they already spend on video and that's 500 more fans. So break even is just over 2300 viewers per game online. Offer a season pass at $25 (a 17% discount on the six home games), a marketing effort to alumni, families, friends and prospects. I don't see how this isn't a money making machine.

It seems so obvious that I'm thinking the administration must have already done some market sampling and have evidence of a weak subscription market.

Wouldn't it be likely that St. John's radio and advertising contracts have a prohibition against simulcasting?

We asked about that once before and it seems from memory that there is no such objection. I seem to remember it was VOJ as the authority on that but it was a long time ago. Many beers in the past.

Actually, maybe the radio station in cahoots with the SCTimes could launch this. A new sports channel market to compete with PPV and cable. All hail the internets - business models are collapsing everywhere.

Ha!  I was actually all set to take my 4 young children to the SJU game against Eau Claire but when I saw the radar, I bailed.  I know this must drive people in Australia and New York crazy, but even when the weather is perfect, I don't see a lot of the game because of my 4 kids.  I spend most of my time in the bathroom and the concession stand (where you can see a beautiful video feed while you are waiting for your caramel apples.) As my kids get older, it should get easier.  I also would make it to more games if my wife liked football as much as assigning Saturday chores to her husband.

How does a Tommie girl like her eggs in the morning???  Unfertilized

I love the jokes over the years they never get old.
As and SJU Alum it is sad you cannot make fun of the bennies anymore...too politically correct on campus.
My favorite black market shirt from about 1987 was a shirt that had three cows on the front and said below it St. Bens, on the back it had the rears of the cows and said Udder Excitement.
My sister who is VP of Development at St. Ben's always cringes when I say I am going to make up 100 of them and send them to random SJU students.

Or just give it for free like every other school and use it as a marketing expense.  If anything sell some scrolling advertising on it.  If you are worried about attendance, make it available for out of state people only.

I always found the Tommie-Johnnie t-shirts hilarious while in college.  Now that my kids can read, they are not quite as funny.

I can remember going to a game and seeing some guys in "Johnnies Swallow" t-shirts. It took me about 10 steps past them before I figured it out. I was much younger and more naive! ;D

I do love the UST(D) shirts from a few years ago! That was classic!

Relatively speaking, the teams of 2009 and 2010 about equal at a B grade, hence the close games.  UST has moved up the grade scale in 2011 and 2012, while SJ1 has moved down, hence the margins.  I'm guessing UST holds steady at its current grade of A-/A+, while SJ1 continues to improve.  That equates to years 4 and 5 becoming a toss up, so SJ1 gets 1 of those for a win.  Maybe year 3 is more competitive than is representative of the teams....as these rivalry games are always close.  SJ1 then steals one more win at best.
The Tommies certainly have dominated MIAC opponents over the past couple years...except a home play-off game with Bethel in 2011(?), that being said athletic success tends to ebb & flow. Since 2000 there have been 4 teams in the MIAC who have claimed the regular season championship either as outright or co-champions. SJU 7 times,Bethel 4 times, UST 3 times and Concordia once. Augsburg is knocking on the door and it would not surprise me to see Augsburg as MIAC champions during the Aryington Scott era- that kid can flat out play & can carry a team.

Can Caruso keep up his pace of recruiting high caliber kids? He doesn't have the luxury to sell the "4 year starter" ticket he did when he came took the job in 2008. He can however sell the Stagg Bowl dream...getting there at least. Can he get kids to come there just because it's UST & has a "mystic" about it? Probably not.He can sell the nice facilities...but not the nice stadium & game day experience. SJU,GAC & Concordia have nicer stadiums. Some say they are impressed with the campus at UST. I don't get it. Give me St. Olaf or SJU any day, but I like open spaces and trees.

So to answer your question over the next 5 years how do I see the Johnnie -Tommie series? SJU 3- UST 2, I like what I have seen with recruits this year from the new staff at SJU and I can see that when this bunch of Freshmen have some more experience they could be real good. Time will tell.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!
