True enough.  A Johnnie interviewed me for my current job.  I walked into the interview, told him that, as much as it made me viscerally sick, I supposed I probably had to shake his hand - he said, "Tommies Suck," and I was as good as employed.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.  A Tommie working for a Johnnie?  How is that possible?  You must have dropped out of U$T, right?
Nope....I believe you call it overachieving.  ::)

He was just more schistery than me so he rose through the legal ranks faster.

Augsburg is knocking on the door and it would not surprise me to see Augsburg as MIAC champions during the Aryington Scott era- that kid can flat out play & can carry a team.
close enough.  Way tougher to spell than some of these names.

Good one- I should have checked the spelling Ayrton on the Augsburg website prior to posting, point taken.

Funny video.

...I've said it a million times-for a LONG time this board was a John smoke fest...

You use the term "smoke fest" in a lot of posts, and I've got to admit, I've never heard it from anyone but you.  Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is a smoke fest?  I am being 100% serious here.

A tradition unrivaled...

I am torn about attending the game Saturday at U$T.   It used to be one of my favorite games to attend...however considering the insults that were hurled at me by drunkin' college students and alums two years ago (literally from the time I got out of the car) I think I'd rather go watch my daughters 10U softball games.  The reports of drunkenness and immature behavior last year in Collegeville were equally as bad (this coming from my brother...a high school football coach and SJU graduate).  I know that people will

Hey-does anyone know if there is a fan bus from SJU headed to St Paul?

Also--I don't have any specific Johnnie-Tommie jokes I can recall offhand, but I do remember one of the most clever stunt the RAt Pack ever pulled back in I believe 92 when they went incognito among the Tommie crowd, posing as UST students in Collegeville..As I recall the story they sat in the very first row or 2 of the Tommies visitor section

When-midway through the first they individually held up letters that spelled out
T-O-M-M-I-E-S as they faced the SJU crowd......to which they received a chorus of Boos,  upon which after about 5-10 seconds of boos turned to cheers, when the remaining 4 members revealed S-U-C-K to the SJU crowd.

It took a good 15-30 seconds before the Tommies section realized what was happening, to which the Rat PAck ripped off their Purple and Gray to reveal their true Red & white colors

Just a classic......

I recall something similar at my first Johnnie-Tommie game as a prospective student visiting Collegeville in '02--except the students held up a purple sheet with "Tommies Suck" painted on the front in white lettering.

Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

I've resisted getting into the ChicagoTommie spat.  I'm a Chicago guy myself, and know plenty of guys as "well spoken" as CT.   I'm not a Johnnie, just married to a Bennie, and we both enjoy game day at the natural bowl.  I'm not on this board to call out Tommies or Augies or anyone else, and I really just skip over the "back and forth" as much as possible.  I'm mostly interested in talking about the games and players.
Anyway, I just want to get my thoughts off my chest.  I'll be glad when this weekend passes and we can get back to "normal banter"   ;D
The Auggies are indeed "knocking on the door". It is easy to say that Ayrton Scott is the reason and yes he is a stud, but if you look close you will see good players on both sides of the ball. It starts with the guys listed in the link below but you will hear about more talent this season. You already know about Scott, Adam Carl and Hakeem Bourne-McFarlane and you will hear about many other returning players on offense (Tyler Maxwell, Jerise Washington) and defense (Felix Coleman) and transfers Michael Juberian LB and Joey Sonnenfeld WR. Sounds like a press release but it is just a quick review of things to watch for.

Now it's back to your regularly scheduled Johnnie-Tommie bickering....... oh.... I mean banter.

No...accidentally hit post and shut my computer....to finish

....people will ask if I ever got a little inebriated prior to a football game (U$T / SJU).  The truth is that I don't believe I ever was a drunken idiot at one of the games will in college...maybe a bit at Simpson / SJU playoff game in the late 80's early 90's.  That may have had more to do with being hungover from the night before.  Truth is at the age of 44 I really don't enjoy being around a bunch of obnoxious, drunken late teen and twenty year olds.
