Put me down as questionable at best...I know it's only an extra $2 but it really does chap my hide that the price gets jacked up when the Jays come to town.  That's really in the tradition of D3...invite your fellow Catholics down and jack up the ticket price.  And before anyone tries to say that SJU does that same thing when U$T comes to Collegeville I will tell you that is complete BS.  Ticket prices for all of SJU's home games are the same for every game.
Pretty humorous when you consider that Carleton doesn't even charge admission for any of their games.

With the game being broadcast on the web I can watch it on the TV and actually have a place to sit while watching and put the extra $2 bucks toward beer.  If the game gets out of hand I might as well clean the garage.  As of now the only reason I would attend is if my 13 year old daughter still wants to go.
I wish this game was in Collegeville every year.  Let you deal with the drunks and disruption.  BTW, I don't recall that St. John's had any extra seats last year.  Maybe that's their payback for UST charging $2 more per adult.

Eagle, shame on SJU for not expanding their seating beyond the 7,482 that is available for every home game and not just ones with added attention. Props to UST for bringing in an additional 3,000 seats to add to their nearly 5,000 on the main grandstand. It's nearly a wash but the Natural Bowl allows for many more standing room spots with a view of the field than the Scoreboard Bowl does.

Rube: I understand you are a big fan of #thesportsshow (Ponder, Ponder, Ponder!!...Sparky the Barking Fossil).  Why don't you come over to the tailgate tomorrow morning and introduce yourself?  I'm sure your brother will tell you we're a pretty friendly bunch.

Forgot to mention earlier:  Last week while sitting in Veek's VIP 50 yard line seats with SJU56321, redtooth's dad (who continues to call TDT "Brian" instead of my real name for unknown reasons much to the amusement of Veek) won a pizza from Brunie's in Avon.  Really a shame that Veek had a 3rd cousin's wedding as Bill (redtooth's dad) shared his pie and we gave the rest to Veek's 11 year old nephew Scott to finish.  Kid thought he'd won the lottery!

BTW: Did anyone get a chance to check out the "all new Rhino deck" at last week's game for the 7th consecutive year?  Really is a fantastic product...

Hope everyone saw my pal Wildcat11's video on TheBigLead.com yesterday.  I'm told it did over 60K views in 24 hours.  Exceptional camera work, TDT loved the spot shadow.  Even more amazing is that I'm told the score was 6-0 at the time.  Whoa baby Linfield looks like a monster again this year.

67K views...You know I bust my backside in creating a cool spring ball video that's now at 13K views (thank you, P.C.) but a 20 second clip of a dirty hit does 5x the traffic in one day is a little defeating.  :)

Okay I think we're set for tomorrow.  Went to Happy Hour with old friend OneArmedScot last night at Mancini's and he then insisted I come over to his house for dinner.  Man did he outkick his coverage.  His wife cooked us dinner and served copious amounts of beer while we watched football.

Injury Report for Saturday: Veek (Out), L.L. Bean (Doubtful), RetiredOldRat (Probable), Benchwarmer (Questionable), Carbo (Questionable), Tmerton (Out), Finsleft (Questionable), OneArmedScot (Probable), KiltedRat (Out), RedHotBennie (Probable), Faunch (Probable)

We'll be tailgating at 10am.  Benchwarmer: Stop at Davanni's and get us a platter of those delicious brownies.  And a 30 pak of Hamm's.  Also, many thanks to your scumbag Tommie brethren for the $10 admission.  I was there scouting a couple weeks ago and it was $8.  I know money is tight at Cretin and Summit these days.  Understandable.

No complaints with that...I'd love the game to be in C-ville every year and would volunteer to conduct sobriety / breathalyzer tests age checks on every person on each of the 20 or so party busses the U$T students bring onto campus.  In addition to ticketing all underaged passengers...intoxicated students would not be allowed into the game.  We could also charge $50 parking for all busses and sell reserved seats in the visitor section for $25 a person.   That would easily pay for a webcast of the game1 ;D

Touchdown Tommy, I hope someone is bringing burgers for the tailgate tomorrow. I wasn't able to get out to Norwood Young America this week to pick up any because of my schedule. I plan on attending the Purple on the Plaza event which begins at 11:00 a.m. No Stiftungsfestivities this week in St. Paul. :'(

4,500 extra seats this year.  Last years attendance was 14,286 so that means the bowl had to accommodate almost 7,000 standing room.  I'd say about 1,000 to 1,500 did not have a view of the field because they were 4 or 5 deep or in areas with no view.  Not a big deal though because there were at least that many who had no interest in watching the game anyway.

Ending those party buses is going to save someone's life some day so I have no problem with anything that discourages them.

Just noticed a new transfer on UST's roster: Chago Huerta. Chago transferred from Concordia University down the road and was recently added to the roster a few days ago. This brings UST's total to nine transfers this past offseason. Quite impressive.

Retired Old Rat

These two University of St. Thomas students run into each other on the way to class.  One has a black eye.  "What happened?" said the first.

"I was at Mass last Sunday and when we all got up to receive the final blessing I saw that the woman standing in front of me had her dress tucked between her butt cheeks. My first reaction was to reach out and pull it out. She turned around and punched me right in the face."

A week later they meet again and then the same young Tommy had, in addition to a fresh black eye, a broken nose and a busted lip.

"Now what happened?" asked his UST friend.

"I was in church again last Sunday and this same lady was sitting in front of me. When she got up I saw that her dress was tucked again between her butt cheeks."

"You didn't pull it out again, did you?"

"No, but the guy next to me did. And I knew she didn't like that so I shoved it back in."

RE: Hamm's

Couple of things a) not a poor law student anymore, a Dirty 30 at 8.99 while economical, is only nostalgic for the first half dozen or so. After that...I'm lukewarm to its taste

Really? Works the other way for me. I only taste the first two beers. After that, who cares (it might as well be cheap). I certainly can't taste anything after 6.

Did he start school 3 weeks late???  How could he "join" the team five to six weeks into the season?  I've never made a big deal out of it on here before but I gotta believe that the U$T coaching staff is having contact w/ these "student / athletes" prior to them transferring.  You don't just get 9 transfers by word of mouth of your players.  I get it that a D1 or D2 coach doesn't really care if a player that will never play for him transfers but still something seems rotten on Cretin Ave.

I have to think that after playing in the national championship that there were several players who were initially recruited by Caruso had second thoughts and transferred to UST. I'm not too quick to jump to your conclusion. I'm fairly confident that this staff has a little more integrity than that. No one was questioning SJU when they were getting all of their transfers.

I don't know all of the details with Chago, but it looks like he wasn't invited to camp which means UST probably didn't know he wanted to play for them. Also, it appears Chago signed his letter of intent last February and was on Concordia's roster, but his profile was recently taken down.  The kid may of had a similar experience as Anthony King-Foreman who realized after a few days of practice that he made the wrong decision.

All coaches keep in contact with some of the guys who eventually choose other schools. Not the same as tampering. Whether it's guys who didn't choose St. Thomas and went to Concordia or guys who didn't choose St. John's a decade ago and went to North Dakota or NDSU or whatever, it happens fairly regularly.

As to why it might take some time to join the roster, you got me. Could be a transcript issue, but that also happens. Whitewater lost a guy last year after camp started and he ended up at Elmhurst around the time classes started.
