SJU 25?

I could see it. They are 3-0 with wins over 2 WIAC schools and the then #2 team on the road. They've certainly got the name recognition to make that sort of jump. If they get a W next week they are a lock for the Top 25. And that Cobber-Johnnie game just got a lot more interesting!

Helps that Augsburg, who was knocking on the door at 26, barely won today at home (although I think GAC is just improving...they've been playing everyone better of late)
I was not able to attend the game today. Looking at the box score; GAC had a good plan to keep the Auggie offense off the field and run out the clock. They ran the ball and played ball control with their senior RB carrying the ball 37 times! I wonder if the bye created some rust on the Auggies. They played one game two weeks ago against a good team but not an MIAC caliber team. I think they will get better this week, make some adjustments, knock the rust off and show well against Hamline.

My thoughts are summed up in my post about O'Connel earlier this week.  Ramler called a great game (last ten mins were odd though). The SJ1 offense looked like the last team to beat UST.

As much as one more blowout would have been enjoyable. It's good to see this game back to being one of the best games in the D3 season. Was great to watch.

Hats off to SJ1.

Gracious in defeat. Class post sir +k

Who's due for a new stadium?  Olaf?  Use Mary Hardin-Baylor as a guide.  No track, the student union is 30 feet from the sideline, locker rooms under the grandstand.  Redonkulous.

Taj Mahal of D3 is right. Those are some nice digs. And as Keith said, if they can fill that place, more power to 'em!

I think this is one of your great posts.  It's balanced, thoughtful, and to the point.

As one of the more recent (started in 2011), occasionally over the top, UST guys it strikes me that many of us have negative karma.  I wonder why.  To be clear, I don't really care about the karma thing and have only started to give positive karma recently.  I get that people want to give negative karma when the banter gets especially cutting (though not mean spirited, part of the fun is coming up with new creative ways to rile up the SJU fans), but often you see UST guys getting dinged for posting links to articles, giving updates on new players, asking questions about other programs, etc.

It seems to me that there is a cadre of folks on this board that are either actively or passively against all things UST.  As far as balanced, reasoned posts are concerned, notice that comments by UST posters are really only viewed as such by much of the SJU contingent as long as: 1) there's no hint (real or perceived) of UST boosterism and 2: SJU is not critiqued in any way.

If you recall, I started on this board by discussing happenings within the MIAC and offering some opinions on future prospects for some MIAC teams.  What was the response?  Some fellow posters supported and engaged in the dialogue (yourself included), while some others went on the attack.  The funny thing is that outside jest, few UST posters condemn SJU or their football program for anything.

On the flipside, UST can't do anything right.  We have too much money, which apparently is bad; we wrongfully spend too much of it on facilities; we have unfair recruiting practices; we have too much media coverage; too many students; the wrong perspective, and the list goes on.

In my view, hubris resides with some (not all) of the SJU posters.  Just last night someone, after three quarters of truly poor play against an unaccomplished team, commented after a few good plays that they're ready to take on UST.  I understand rallying around your team, but this sort of statement implies that some people naturally think SJU should be viewed as a top-tier competitor.  At this point in time that's not the case, and it shows a lack of respect for a team like UST.

Anyway, the game is about to start...

Thanks for the video feed today UST and allowing SJU to be on the same field as a top-tier competitor.

Zim - I'm sorry you didn't see the humor that was obviously intended in the post saying "Bring on the Tommies." It was posted by someone who has a very good wit, and you should have been aware of it. Just to explain, Oz thought that the Johnnies were truly lucky to have won the game over UWEC, and played poorly in that game. There was obvious sarcasm because of that. I know it's hard to catch some of the inflection in print, but that one was intuitively obvious to the casual observer. You inferred seiousness. That's on you. See Post #66030 at the top of this page for more of that humor.

I also thought that ron doney's last post was classy and gracious, therefore, I gave him a "+". That's what I do, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

From the Pioneer Press game story:

"He was very poised under pressure," Fasching said of Bruns. "He really engineered the offense; I can't say enough about him. He played a whale of a game. He's our starting quarterback." (Emphasis added)

Talk about a great day for Connor, especially when you've got Gary making a bold statement like this after the game.
It looks like the QB carousel is over for the time being.

was it just me or did the roar of the crowd after the missed field goal almost make it seem like it was in Collegeville...

The Johnnie Faithful were the 12th man on the field today.  They were excellent.

A$M will be sending you a bill for that comment although the first reference to the 12th Man was with the University of Iowa fans.

LCDR at least in the medical community is still pretty much a given as long as you can fog a mirror.
Won't change much if anything in my day to day work, I'll still be a resident but I will get a bigger paycheck which is very nice obviously.
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

Ret, Zim was just quoting a Tommie who didn't understand Oz's post, throwing it back in said Tommie's face. Rest assured, Zim is a full-blooded Johnnie and, in addition to his excellence as a bunter on the baseball diamond, is a very funny guy who certainly understood and appreciated Oz's humor. Blame his high school education for inability to properly use the quote function.

I got to listen to part of the St. Olaf game today.  The Concordia broadcast was awful.  I couldn't get a good feed on it.  I was impressed by how they played.  I think the MIAC is probably closer than I thought this year.

Do you really think St. Olaf would do anything like that for athletics?  It would be nice, but I doubt it happens.  I am guessing they are going to try to get a few small high school football playoff games with it.  It is a little small for most other events in Texas.  It definitely helps UMHB build their identity.  UMHB for years had the stigma of being an all girls school.  It was one of the reasons football was added.  That stadium is on par with several high school stadiums in the region.  I will try to head down for a game later this year.  I've got a friend that is UMHB alum.  If you ever want to turn a UMHB fan purple then call them the Baylor Bears.  If Olaf was going to build a new stadium I would hope they would follow the plan for Friso ISD's new football stadium.  They already have the one that hosts the MLS team, and now they are working with the Cowboys to get a domed stadium.

Seems like everything is right in d3-SJU wins, UWW and Mount also win.

Hear, hear!!!

Just watched part of the replay which is archived. The Caruso interview was pretty hilarious, mostly because of the gum or tobacco chewing that seemed to be accentuating every comment.

So did the Tommies want to center the ball on the last play and he went too far to the right?
