Moving on up, baby.  This is the highest I've ever been in the pickem's outside of week two about six years ago.  This is my year.  I can feel it.

EDIT: "Da Hammer", yah?  You betcha.  Hammer time.
I don't know Oz, with only an 8 point difference, you might be able to argue that you are co-number one! ;)

Congrats to the most recent MIAC Players of the Week

QuoteHamline's Austin Duncan received the MIAC Football Offensive Player-of-the-Week award after his historic performance in Saturday's night's overtime loss to Carleton (20-17). His 48 carries for 298 yards were both Piper school records, and he now leads all of Division III in rushing yards per game. Saint John's Nolan Lortz received the MIAC Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week award for his role in the Johnnies' 20-18 upset of No. 2 St. Thomas. Lortz led the team with 10 tackles, and his interception and 22-yard return set up the winning field goal. Concordia's Bryce Hentges received the MIAC Football Special Teams Player-of-the-Week award for his prowess in the return game. The Cobber senior scored an 85-yard kick return touchdown to answer a St. Olaf touchdown, and he also had returns to the Concordia 46 and 43 yard line in the 33-29 victory.

Duncan's numbers for Hamline jump off the page. That is a ton yards and a ton of carries. 6.2 ypc is nice as well, but just as impressive is the fact that he didn't have a single carry where he lost. But how long can he keep up that sort of pace (40 carries/game)? And what does he do against better competition?

Regardless, it's nice to see Hamline putting some quality players on the field. Maybe the bottom of the MIAC is a little better than I first thought...

-Anyone know who's in charge of the music at UST?  It was loud enough that I bet even MIAC Maniac could hear it.

Is this necessary? It's one thing if you were making fun of someone who's hard of hearing because of their advanced age, but MIAC Maniac's hearing loss is pretty much a life-long disability.

I wouldn't allow you to make fun of Gallaudet players for their disability and the only reason this post is still here is because I didn't catch it in time. I know your lack of class is all part of your shtick but you might want to rethink this one.
I don't disagree Pat with you on this at all, but one difference is that at least MIAC Maniac is a participating member of this board and has the opportunity to respond to the comment.  What bothers me more are the attacks (yes most done humorously) at people who can't respond because they are representatives of an organization and don't have the luxury of speaking for themselves.  Whether it's Jimmy G., John G., Glen C., or any other targets that have appeared in the past, these guys are sitting ducks and cannot counter the outright falsehoods, distortions, innuendos, rumors, 3rd and 4th party statements that get posted.

Cobbers then have a bye week before hosting Bethel for some homecoming revenge.

Do they intend to take revenge against their players that ran onto the field before the ball was recovered?  Homecoming seems like an odd time to be going after fellow Cobbers.

Section,

Would you expect anything else than the Wing T offense?  However, I haven't seen the cobbs play this season so who knows if they have switched it up.  Maybe they run a shotgun pistol offense.

Geez Blue, I almost forgot about the fumble heard round the world.  It would have hurt more if Bethel did more in the playoffs, but didn't.  At least they made it in, but there are no guarantees at 8-2 this season.

While those two things are indeed, different situations as well, that doesn't make this right. Those people above are public figures and there's a different line to draw, although also a line. i often used to tell coaches that this is the talk radio of Division III football, both the good and the bad, but I don't hear nearly as many complaints about it anymore.

Thanks Pat...its a touchy topic. It takes a pretty lame mind to make jokes about a disability, but no one's ever accused TDT of being above shyt like that. Luckily, he isnt a good representative of SJU.

Walter, just because I have the opportunity to respond doesnt make it OK, not by a long shot. By that logic, since there are African Americans with accounts on the baord, then its OK to tell racist jokes? Those you mention have the opportunity to respond too (all they'd need to do is create an ID)

It looks like the same Cobbs to me based upon their highlights from the lefse bowl.

Whoa, I didn't say or even mean to imply that it was OK.  I'm sorry that I used you to make a point about the further disadvantages public figures have in these situations.   Also, I see where It would have been better to say something like this:  "This is wrong and what bothers me even more is when....."

D O.C.

I bet two bits TDT does not come back with a "What?" like he would in real life.

I must say, I've never seen anyone say a bad thing about Steve Fritz.  It would surprise me if anyone did.  He's a real class act.

I think I referenced his political affiliation once.  But now I know better  ;)

Must have been a PM that I'm recalling. :-\  Thanks for the correction.  I removed his name from the list of examples.

The Punt Pass....

It is only a matter of time before Caruso uses this.  We all know Garrett Maloney is the Tom Brady of punt passers.  Seriously, Stevie Johnson better get his boys in line for this.

retagent

I remember Steve Fritz when he was playing B Ball for Rochester Lourdes against my High School. He was a horse then, as well as when he played against the Johhnies while I was there. He was a hell of a player, and always exhibited the best in sportsmanship as well.

Did not know about Mainiac. I know it may be slightly different, but there are quite a few references (missed calls by officials being one) where some say, "Even Stevie Wonder could see that one." Even one of Gags biggest jokes was, "I'd send the officials Christmas cards, but I can't find any in braille."

That being said, TDT is not the President of The Classy Club.
