Spent 20 mins watching some of the Tommie/Johnnie film.  Just a quick look, but wonder if anyone else saw the same things:
1) Tommie O Line: nice push off of the snap.  Johnnies did a nice job of shedding blockers to close gaps at the last second.  That said, seems to me the Tommie backfield takes a second too long to hit the holes.

2) Tommie D: Inside backers didn't come across as all too effective in the first half.  Without watching entire tape, not sure they were ever successful on the blitz.  If anything, took themselves out of the play too often - as they did on Sura's big run.  From few minutes I watched in the second half, didn't seem to blitz as much .....saw same play to Sanu (after O'Connel INT at end of third), no blitz, LBs filled gaps after snap and stopped Sura for 2yrd gain.

**Other than off of the bad INT by O'Connell, Johnnies didn't get ball inside UST 20 in second half.  Pretty legit adjustments by coach K at the half.  Promising....tip of the hat to Ramler for stealing the first half though.

O'Connell: Just like last game, got into another funk.  He threw the first interception at the end of Q3, straight drop, long time in pocket, no pressure, and just sailed it over the middle, intended for the TE.  Then the offense goes, 5 and out, 3 and out, and on the third play of next possession, O'Connell with another INT.  He can't have these funks.....needs to show the maturity his experience suggests.  Especially in the fourth quarter.

You didn't mention the non call(s) on the block(s) in the back on the muffed, then regained punt in the 4th.

First time ya'll seen a play like that?  Pretty typical, the punt coverage team usually changes their lines when they see the ball down...and then are spun around pretty quickly if the returner picks up speed.  That's what I saw, looks to me like those "blocks in the back" were more blocks on the side and just as much the Johnnies tripping over their own feet as they changed directions.  Too close to call on the field.

Btw, those refs gave your punter credit for the yards on the muffed catch:
Griffin Toomey punt 64 yards to the UST6, Dan Noehring return 61 yards to the SJU33 (Paul Plombon).

Opening drive of the fourth quarter, UST returns the ball to mid field.  Pick up a first down.
1st and 10 at SJU38    BrentonBraddock rush for loss of 1 yard to the SJU39 (Drake Matuska).
2nd and 11 at SJU39    Matt O'Connell pass incomplete. - again, sailed a pass over the head of the TE right down the middle on a screen.  TE had room to run, should have been 3rd and short.
3rd and 11 at SJU39    Jordan Millis rush for loss of 4 yards to the SJU43 (Paul Plombon).

Can't let a team hang around....Game Over.
The last shall be first and the shall be.......

Thats a close race for play of the week.

I think the Auggie Tech play shows the most athleticism.  Cobber play is pretty solid.  I was hoping for some kind of trick play from the SJU video, but it's just a running back going untouched for 40 yds.

It is a guess, but I am thinking the SJU O-line is just a little proud of that clip.  Conversely, I wonder how many times GC showed this play at Plums during his weekly film study, just asking!

I think the film is pretty clear.  The Tommie's screwed up....on both sides of the center, a linemen and backer both filled the b gaps.

Wouldn't that be a case of "live by the blitz, die by the blitz" ?  ???

So, for the Cobber game on Saturday is the best defense against the Sailor's Chop Block offense to run up some scores early and force the Cobbers to the air?

I was reading an Around the Nation article and they referred to the Massey Ratings list of all college football programs against one another so I went to see who was on the bottom.  The worst college football program in the country.

Poor old Itasca Community College Vikings.  ICC can't hardly get respect for anything in Grand Rapids when they have to compete against high school sport, but to be the worst college football team in the country?  Well, that's just tragic.

I just have to pull this picture forward because it is too damn funny. I'd say the "Caruso Crew" as they call themselves put more effort in to making the oversized tools then they ever did towards freshman English.  ;)

BDB. They are seminarians. They've been showing up to games way before UST was good. They have an odd amount of enthusiasm, but you can't blame them for the effort.

And as far as seminaries go, Vianney is the best in the country over the last decade.  It's things like this that set them apart. Might make you laugh, but it works in that world.

Take out the cardboard tools and there really isn't anything humorous about the picture...well maybe it's still a little bit funny but not much.

I don't see how the fact that these guys are seminarians is at all relevant. They dress liked goons for the game and they're ripe for ridicule afterwards. Obviously I congratulate and encourage them in their pursuits but they still deserve (and will get) grief for their get ups.

Now if we picked on them because they were seminarians then that would be something to talk about. But we aren't; we're picking on them because they are Tommies. Obviously not every decision these guys make is a good one.

Well Good Lord! If college guys carrying oversized tools and wearing hardhats isn't fun then what the hell is? I think it's great! And yes it makes me lol and I think it's funny. My parish had a Monsignor pass away last year. He was beloved by everyone, Catholic folks and everyone else. Brought the whole community together.

Anyway, I was with him a few years ago when my squad started a new quarterback, and the QB was good. Well, Monsignor, who was like 90 at the time, asked about this new QB. We told him about this player and he said "Damn! I'm going to have to live another 4 years just to watch this kid!"

Some men of the cloth have a sense of humor to knock you down. This particular Priest was a community treasure. And to have that level of faith, wow.

I am quite certain THIS will be on Robert Zimmerman's Christmas list.

I am a bit of a Bob fanatic, so I already have all of his albums except one.  I refuse to buy the album he released a couple years ago called, "Christmas In The Heart," that's where I draw the line!  Other than that, I have all the studio albums, live albums, and even some unreleased bootlegs.  I consider myself an amateur Dylan impersonator; I even have a harmonica neck holder so I can play guitar and harmonica at the same time.  Here I am doing one of Bob's songs:

RZim, you are awesome! I love Dylan and you are on target. And the CSB-SJU t-shirt is a nice touch. Well done brother.

I'm a big Dylan fan too.  Though I can't play guitar or harmonica.  I do have an extensive collection of his music, both commercial and bootleg.  I don't have "Christmas In The Heart " either.  I've seen him  live several times.  I think the best album he's put out in the recent past is "Blood On The Tracks."

RZ, "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue" is one of my favorites.

Thanks, but I won't be quitting my day job any time soon.  The CSB-SJU shirt is from winning the basketball intramural championship with sfury (and the shirt I just can't throw away).  Sfury was quite a basketball player in his day and I think we knocked out Kurt Ramler's team en route to our title.
