Amazing start for the Cobbers at Clemens today, and a good finish for a solid win. Excellent play on both sides of the ball.

So, having achieved a "signature victory" by knocking off #21 at the Johnnies' house, it will be interesting to see if the Cobbers not only take a top 25 spot, but also if they jump Augsburg in the rankings. Might we see 4 MIAC teams in the top 25?

Cobbers haven't had back to back victories over the Johnnies since I was a junior (and that was 32 years ago!).

I think the Cobbers may win the MIAC. They seem to be in the drivers seat.

Appreciate the endorsement, Bluenote, but there is a lot of season left. Cobbers get a week off to savor, rest, heal, and prepare for Bethel at the Jake for homecoming. The outcome of that game will likely determine who is in the driver's seat...at least for a week!

4 Teams?  That made me laugh.  There is a possibility of a 4 team tie with multiple bids, but I can't see why the MIAC would get 4 teams.  You have to look at Bethel and Concordia in the drivers' seat, but UST and SJU are not out by far.  Augsburg may even surprise somebody.  Regardless so far it looks like a good year for the MIAC.

You might want to swallow that laugh and re-read his post  ;)

He's not saying the MIAC will get 4 bids. Which would be an utter impossibility with only 5 Pool C bids available this year. He's saying we might get 4 teams in the Top 25 this week. Which is a real possibility. St. Johns and Widener both lost and you'd assume will drop out. Concordia probably gets a good boost for beating SJU by multiple scores on the road. And Augsburg was already knocking on the door at 27 and won big today as well. I'm guessing one gets in for sure, and both wouldn't be a huge stretch.

Just to further clarify, the Top 25 plays no role in determining which teams make the 32 team playoff field.

I am back on the board just got back from being overseas I love what I am seeing  in the miac! This will be fun to see how the Tommies take care of business in the miac next week!

I'm back on the board just back from Kamchatka snow skiing.

I do NOT think  this board will move 200 pages this week.

I will gladly swallow my pride and that laugh and apologize to Corn Horn along with others.  I misread your post and thought you said playoffs.  If I knew you were talking about Top 25 then I would not have made that post.  I will chalk that up to no sleep and finally a good day of college football on television.  I do believe 4 MIAC teams in the Top 25 is very possible.  Thank you to Hazzben for pointing this out to me.  The MIAC is one heckuva conference, and they deserve those 4 spots in the Top 25.  Can anyone remember a year where the MIAC was this deep?

Here it is: the big Grand Final post (probably just for the benefit of HSCTiger74).  The game clips are are 480p which is good enough quality to put full screen.

It was a highly defensive match in front of 100,007 fans.  Not a lot of wide open offense in this game but a lot of in-close, tight play.

The first quarter (game starts about 19 minutes into the clip): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=349AGSD1FYw

Second quarter (incl halftime analysis from FoxFooty): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mydr6Eefb8U

Third quarter (incl halftime entertainment.  Quarter starts at about 10 minute mark): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhNn3fveHOc

Fourth quarter (incl awards and trophy presentation): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuxQm2lLUHs

So, if you look at their last 4 games, U$T is 2-2, and they were beat by what the recently-absent Reverend MIAC would likely term a "mid-MIAC, at best" SJU team that was missing one of their top receivers and their starting (at the time) QB.

Maybe U$T isn't living up to their stratospheric billing.   ;D

It might be helpful to note that over these four games UST has outscored SJU 151 - 74.

I've been in a dark place the past week, but should be back to form soon...

Update: With the devastating win over UST last week, spirits were high amongst the SJU faithful.  This week's loss signals a return to normalcy and the calls for increased handholding can be heard throughout Collegeville.  Meanwhile, this supporter hopes someone has been wielding a hammer in St. Paul in recent days...

Congrats to the Cobbers for being well prepared, focused and taking it to the Johnnies.

As I said to several people yesterday, J's are relatively young and in rebuilding mode.  Some inconsistency is to be expected.  Expect more exciting victories and occasional disappointing loses.

Concordia QB and wide receiver might be best pair in the league.  I implied earlier that QB leading the team in rushing may be a weakness.  Proven wrong (again).

Disappointing outcome couldn't diminish the joy of homecoming.  Great to see many classmates, some I have not seen in 35 years.  Blessed and honored to be a Johnnie.

I think it's a little pre-mature to judge who the best QB-WR tandems are. Especially given the Cobbers starter has only played two MIAC games. Sounds like he's a talent though. And it's fun food for thought.

Personally, I think Bethel may have the best collection of offensive skill players they've ever had. There are no weak areas and tons of quality depth.
