*I tried to find cut-offs that showed a significant drop off to the next group and still left the guys included with a strong stat. Also, the AVG list was longer simply to recognize it's the one most open to being skewed by a guy with a handful of catches warped by a few long ones.

Little surprising SJ1 even got some votes this week. 24 in fact.  Hard to believe anyone has them higher than 25th after this weekend.

Why wouldn't they, Ron? Lots of people voted for Concordia-Moorhead, so it's actually quite reasonable for a voter to also vote for St. John's.

Here it is: the big Grand Final post (probably just for the benefit of HSCTiger74).  The game clips are are 480p which is good enough quality to put full screen.

It was a highly defensive match in front of 100,007 fans.  Not a lot of wide open offense in this game but a lot of in-close, tight play.

The first quarter (game starts about 19 minutes into the clip): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=349AGSD1FYw

Second quarter (incl halftime analysis from FoxFooty): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mydr6Eefb8U

Third quarter (incl halftime entertainment.  Quarter starts at about 10 minute mark): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhNn3fveHOc

Fourth quarter (incl awards and trophy presentation): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuxQm2lLUHs

And for those that just can't get enough...

So, if you look at their last 4 games, U$T is 2-2, and they were beat by what the recently-absent Reverend MIAC would likely term a "mid-MIAC, at best" SJU team that was missing one of their top receivers and their starting (at the time) QB.

Maybe U$T isn't living up to their stratospheric billing.   ;D

It might be helpful to note that over these four games UST has outscored SJU 151 - 74.

I've been in a dark place the past week, but should be back to form soon...

Update: With the devastating win over UST last week, spirits were high amongst the SJU faithful.  This week's loss signals a return to normalcy and the calls for increased handholding can be heard throughout Collegeville.  Meanwhile, this supporter hopes someone has been wielding a hammer in St. Paul in recent days...

If nothing else maybe a SJU win would have kept this clown off the board continuing its self imposed exile...

Dang. If that lemon you are sucking on were any more sour my eyes would be watering clear over here.

Even scarier, a lot of people have voted for a team that those terrible Johnnies beat -- on the road.

Looking at the body of work, wins aside (as all have undefeated or 1 loss records), one very good half against top 5 team. Otherwise inconsistent.  And this weekend wasn't as close as score, given garbage time TD after fumble.

I know, many variables at play. But said other way, wouldn't have been surprising to see them fall off map.

In a vacuum, also odd UST got more votes after bye week when SJ1 has bad loss.

True - majority of position based on historical success. Certainly not in performance first three weeks.

To be honest the UST loss was emotionally scarring for me and others.  We were overconfident in lead up to the game and shot ourselves in the foot far too many times; SJU played hard and deserved the win.  I've been down all week, but you know few things raise a UST man's spirits more than acknowledging defeat and then breaking up the newly invigorated SJU smokefest...

Whether it's a good half, a good 55 minutes or a couple fluke plays, it was enough for the W, so a whole 24 points is pretty reasonable.

I really enjoy the Cobbers getting the W... But the road doesn't get any easier... It'll be interesting to see what happens in Arden Hills this weekend.

Ahhh, you were at Collegeville on Saturday, because I know you didn't watch the game on the webcast.

Actually, SJU did put itself in a position win but continued to struggle in the Red Zone. An interception in the Red Zone as well as one in the End Zone coupled with a FG doinked off the upright, now we're talking 4-0 SJU and 3-1 Cobbers. Unfortunately, the Cobbers did a fine job on defense and did make those two crucial picks to seal the deal.

Ron,let the season play out. Perhaps SJU overachieved when they beat UST in St. Paul to snap the consecutive MIAC wins and  Toms home wins streak, but who really cares about some silly winning streak. SJU is accustom to ending consecutive winning streaks, it's kinda something they have done over history ("the program's body of work"). Like ROR said, this SJU team has some young talent and there are going to be some inconsistencies. It appears they may have lost their Sr. Center,so there may be more peaks & valleys to the season.Let's just wait and see how the Toms and the Cobbers stack up later in the year before you cut down the Concordia program saying they are "giving up garbage time TDs" in they 4th Q. I'm pretty sure,to a man they'd all say the were giving it 100%. Terry Horan runs a good program and I can't see him letting his players "walk through" a 4th Q  on the road with the MIAC being so tightly matched this year.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!
