Just gave Gary's chat a quick read through. Contrary to what Fury might say I did not participate.

I love my SJU brethren but some of us need to get a grip. The chat isn't the forum for calling out players. That doesn't mean you can't ask about development or depth but to basically put a loss on one college student, at the DIII level, is embarrassing. I think Gary's handled himself pretty well in these situations.

As for the clown who asked final question, why not put your actual name out there if you're going to try and uncover the juicy details. I hope this wasn't an SJU fan and was just your average internet troll. It doesn't mean players and the staff shouldn't be held accountable for their actions but it was stupid question given the context.

Amen!  And to all the dads of freshmen, quit asking about your son seeing the field.  It takes a rare talent to make an impact as a freshman.  It's a big jump from HS to college, and while your kid was likely good in high school, know that there are 190 others on the roster that were pretty good in high school, too.

A tradition unrivaled...

NHL Season starts tonight. I'm guessing that my Caps will be up and down - much like SJU this year.

And my son's youth hockey team has their first practice today at 4pm. Guess what I'll be doing the next 5 1/2 months?  ::)

They will be a part of the banner raising in Chicago tonight. For whatever reason the team raising the banner doesn't typically fair too well in the game. Chicago destroyed the Kings last year after their ceremony.

I'm just glad the season is (almost) underway.

The entitlement of certain people always confused me.

Obviously I won't name names, but in my era it was fairly obvious from day one who the coveted recruits were and who was just a position filler. There are exceptions, and if you find the weight room, listen to your coaches, learn the offense/defense, anything is possible, but don't get your hopes up year one. I just remember my junior year when we had a VERY deep backfield and I was actually ON a depth chart at fullback. I can't remember, but I think we opened at home against a solid Coe or St. Norbert's team, and an 11th string freshman rb came up to me and said, "Hey Bench, do you think I'll get a lot of playing time this weekend?"

I just laughed and said, "Do the math kid." He quit two weeks later.

A favor to ask:

Oz daughter #1 loves fashion and would love to become a designer one day. She's entered a design in a 'Witchery' competition (Australian fashion store). The five entries with the most votes become finalists. To increase her chance of winning I'd really appreciate it if you and your friends/family would vote for her. It's really easy. Just click on the link below' and vote. Thanks!

OZ we take voting serious in Chicago so I voted at least 10 times ;D good luck!!!

I must grudgingly admit that is pretty damned funny.  I nominate this for best Tommie post in the history of these boards.

Is there a cutoff date or time, Oz? Since I'm following the CT playbook I thought it would be a good thing to know.

November 3.  Far be it from me to encourage Chicago tactics, but I suppose browsing incognito (if you use Chrome) may do the trick...

Thanks for all the prayers, guys.  Unfortunately, Carrie was unable to get her last treatment yesterday due to some dehydration, but they're hoping to get it taken care of later this week.
I hope everything goes well and she can finish everything up this week. My prayers are with her.
