I just took a gander at the weather forecast for Arden Hills, MN on Saturday and it's looking kind of soggy. 48 hours out and they're calling for rain showers in the morning breaking up to intermittent showers throughout the afternoon. If you look at the MIAC stats page you see that Bethel and Augsburg are two evenly matched teams - each having played two "easier" teams and one team of note thus far this season. Bethel's ground game is better and if the rain sticks around that will affect the aerial attacks of both teams. That coupled with the fact they'll be playing at home I think gives the nod to the Royals. I'll confess that I am a fair weather supporter and if it is too messy outside I'll be watching the game from the comfort of my home. At any rate, after this game is over there will only be two teams left in the MIAC that are undefeated for the season because the Cobbers are idle this week. If Bethel does win this weekend, then that sets up another week when two undefeated teams in the MIAC take the field against one another. (Trying hard not to look ahead.)

I have to say in closing, it sure looks weird to see St. Thomas setting near the bottom of the MIAC standings page with them being ranked #6 by D3 Football.

Just about done on the remodel of the cat cave (Linfield) and ready to put things out again. However, I don't have all the teams from the MIAC. St. Johns, Concordia, Hamline and Gus Davis are taken care of, am still in need of the others to proudly display in the room.

It doesn't have to be anything big or even new. It can be either a men's or ladies sport or anything from your college or university
(D3)

Shot glasses, mugs, cups, banners, shirts, Decals, Programs, Key chain etc.

Please send me a message if you could help me fill the cave.

Thanks  the swede :) :) :)

Maybe ROR could send you his "UST DAD" coffee cup.  :P

If you've been to Ireland or claim to be of Irish descent I think you'll find this hilarious...even if you don't match that criteria you might sill get a laugh.

OK I will bite.......I think that most non-Auggies looking at this matchup will agree with you and I can't argue with that opinion; Bethel is a very good team. However.....if you have seen the Auggies play lately and I will assume that you have not, you would not be so certain of the outcome. I know Augsburg will come out with serious intent to win this game and not just the normal focus to beat a good team like Bethel. I expect a huge effort by the team and they will likely be motivated to produce a signature win. This is how I see it.

I'm not taking Augsburg lightly in the slightest. They've got an incredible dual threat QB with legit weapons at all skill positions. They've won several big games the past few years. Scott scares me to death. Non-MIAC people don't realize how good and dangerous Augsburg is.

I'm expecting a highly competitive game Saturday.

That's not what you're saying on twitter, hazzben. If I can remember the quote directly...

"There hasn't been a more certain walkover since the Dream Team played Papua New Gunniea."

Frank Rajkowski is reporting that SJU D-lineman Blake Bellefeuille is out for the season with a torn ACL and meniscus.  That's a tough blow; he was starting to come into his own.  :'(

Damn. That's tough.
Well, he's a sophomore, so here's to a successful surgery and a robust recovery!

He was out all last year with a knee injury as well, so he's a Jr. academically. I'm pretty sure he took a medical hardship then,if not then he can take it now. The point being with a second knee injury you kinda wonder..... it could go either way. He could come back better than ever or may say "I'm here to get a degree and football was fun but that chapter is behind me". I guess time will tell. I agree with Duff, the kid was coming along nicely.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Oz, just a reminder that I only allow people to view my private twitter account if they promise never to divulge it's contents. It's the deal I had to make with U$T, since I follow their private account and frequently retweet Caruso's musings.  ;D Get in line or I'll be forced to block you. The kind of sacrifice I'm willing to make to stay in UST's good twitter graces  8-)

The D3 Guru's seem to agree in Triple Take that there's a battle brewing in Arden Hills:

Game of the Week:
Quote
Pat's take: Augsburg at No. 5 Bethel. Although I like that game above as well, obviously. Augsburg remains a dark horse in the MIAC, not having played anyone of note on the national or regional scene as of yet. And since the season started, that dark horse status has been usurped by St. John's, then Concordia-Moorhead. But the Auggies have a pretty special quarterback in sophomore Ayrton Scott, a significant dual threat. Bethel, however, has grass, and a lot of rain in the Twin Cities leading up to this weekend. It could get messy.

Most likely Top 25 team to get upset.
QuoteRyan's take: No. 5 Bethel. Both Bethel and opponent Augsburg have played decent schedules — at least enough so to prepare them to face each other. I have Augsburg on my Top 25 ballot, so I certainly think there's something there to like. There are similarities in the two teams' offensive capabilities, and both are ahead of the curve in terms of forcing turnovers. It would surprise me little if a big play or two were the deciding factor in this one.

Here's to hoping Pat's right and Ryan's wrong!
