Last chime in...Johns win the rest of the schedule.
Watch the NWC game tomorrow afor the and see what's in store for the MIAC winner.

Get past the WIAC first....then we will see.

Yes, hopefully the MIAC winner meets Lintfield and beats them like SJU has done 3 times.........
For those scoring at home D.O.C is a Linfiled supporter NWC is his home conference not the WIAC.
Linfield  defeated PLU- both Top 25 teams, that's why D.O.C said to watch the game to see what's in store for the MIAC winner. Meaning, hopefully the MIAC winner meets Linfield in the play-offs.In the past the NCAA has sent the WIAC winner  to the "East" or "North" bracket when the "West" has been pretty heavy with top teams
Got it?  8-)

NS Sherlock. The knock on Linfield has been their inability to advance in the playoffs despite much hyped about regular season teams. They lost at home in the playoffs to Wara last season, so that's what the reference was in regards to.

Wow....what an adventure in literature and Psychology. This relates to my last post on NWC Board. I predict some of the playoff bracket.

BTW....it's always nice to hear from Chewey....assuming he's from Star Trek  ;) He's always so colorful in his descriptions about Linfield.   ::)

Reusse article about the game and Ayrton Scott yesterday.

Hazzben- Thanks for the positive feedback regarding the game yesterday. Sounds like that was the first time you have seen Scott play. MIAC fans need to see him play in person and then you understand how good he is and how Augsburg is still in every game until it is over (last years UST game is the exception). I have seen him play most of the games in his young Auggie career and he makes at least one big play out of nothing every game. I know the Johnnie fans next week will see his talent. Sonnenfeld is another very skilled player. It was interesting to see how he compared to the Bethel WR Hallstrom. I think the combo of Carl, Sonnenfeld, Putratz, Washington and Scott are going to put together several good games the rest of the way. The defense has improved as well, Michael Juberian made some nice stops at ILB yesterday and his tackle #'s are already really high leading the MIAC in tackles per game. Hard to stop that running game of Bethel. The right side of the Royals O-line is huge.

Blue-
Coach Jim Mader takes all his years of experience from coaching at Albany H.S. ( 6 miles from SJU) into to his "retirement job" as O-Line coach and molds these young guys into a cohesive unit. A little bit of home cooking doesn't hurt either  ;D
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Certeza with a huge day against the Oles.
114 yards on 14 carries (8.1 YPC). This is going to be a fun four years.

Hoot dang!  Shame I slept through this one.  I'll listen to the replay later today.  Now that's the Johnnies I hoped to see last week.  Well, it's not too late, boys.

Bethel         31
Augsburg    28

FINAL

D made some big plays when they needed to. 'Held' Scott to 186 passing and 90 rushing. If you had told me that would be his stat line going in I'd have been very optimistic.

Bethel felt in control from the 2nd quarter on. Pick at the end left the door open for Augsburg. And give credit, Augsburg kept playing hard and made it interesting at the end there. Their clock management was strange. Down 31-14 they just didn't have any urgency to score quickly. Came back to hurt them at the end of the game.
I was there today too. Great atmosphere at Bethel for homecoming. Augsburg took a step forward, even in the loss IMHO. They played the # 5 team in the country and at times were able to move the ball and score. Congrats to Bethel on the win. This Bethel team is very good.

I was in attendance also...very fun game to watch.  I thought BU was going to pull away when they went up 28-14, but there was no quit in Augsburg.  Scott is a great QB...if he continues to progress as a passer, he will put up big numbers by the time he is a senior.  His second INT was a very poor decision, and AUG took some dumb and unnecessary penalties...which might have been the difference in the game.

I'll be interested to see how their matchups with CORD, SJU, and UST go...I think that Augsburg could very will win 1 if not 2 of those.

No disrespect to VOJ but the STO play-by-play guy is my new favorite guy. Yes, he can't follow the play.  And, yes, he's a hopeless homer. And, yes, he is largely unfamiliar with the rules of college football and makes no effort to learn the opposition sides names.  But he has the most melodic, slow Minnesota accent that I've heard in 25 years. It's like I was listening to my grandpa call the game. Or more accurately melodically ramble about things vaguely football related which may or may not have been taking place on the field.

A masterful performance.

"Ramble about things vaguely football related..." That sounds like about 3500 pages of this message board. ;)

During the 4th quarter he thought Daryl Williams was in at quarterback and then the next play he thought it was Bruns back in at QB.  In fact it was Bungum on both plays.
Makes me really appreciate the job that Mark and Bryan do.

Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

Closed circuit to faunch or SJU Rube:
I have a super busy day tomorrow so could one of you please ask Gary in the live chat why the number changes on road games never seem to get communicated to the announcers? Example- we all knew Battis was out even though he was announced as the starter. Ben Brown was playing center and was wearing #74 instead of #71. Everyone in the stands thought Colin Fisher (listed as #74 in the program) was playing center. Also, Jack Hedlund was wearing #53 instead of his #67 at right tackle. There isn't a #53 listed for the Johnnies in the St. Olaf program.
Perhaps this is a way to keep the octogenarians engaged during the game.....heck it keeps me guessing  :D
