A paltry 8,886 in attendance at a gray and soggy Natural Bowl today.

Good thing the Johnnies don't live video stream the games. It probably would've caused the attendance to be as low as 8,862 (worst case scenario).

Dear Tom Stock:
I would have been at the game but my eighth grader had a volleyball tournament.  Would have been great to watch the end of the game when I got home.  I know...I'm just a cheap leech that wants something for nothing.

Using his current logic, Stock should break the contract with WBHR. Too many people listening to the games that aren't there! If he really wanted to pack the house, he should adopt rules similar to the Supreme Court of the United States.

"Please refrain from taking the following items into the [Stadium] when [a game] is in session: cameras, radios, pagers, cell phones, iPods, MP3 Players, other electronic devices, hats, overcoats, magazines, books, briefcases and luggage."

Hamline with a big win today over Olaf.

St. Olaf is in trouble right now. They are looking at a possible 1 - 9 season.

Remaining schedule:

at Augsburg
Carleton
at Bethel
St. Thomas

We just aren't very good.  I had that feeling at the start of the year, but our record confirms it.  The Carleton game may be our one winnable game remaining, but even that is not a given.  Even Asp took some heat on the broadcast today.  It really is a shame the fall these Oles have taken.

Saw/heard nothing about the game in Collegeville except for a 5 minute window on Twitter before my phone died. The point differential isn't great on the year but 5-1 is solid compared to the last few years & what remains on the schedule. Call it luck or confidence or whatever but Auggie Tech had a fumble on the SJU 1 yd line today. That is beautiful. Anyone know if the J's covered Don Roney's points/yards a half over/under? Doesn't really matter as they are 2-1 against the MIAC elite.

With Carleton's win over Macalester, the MIAC now has a record of 14 and 1 against non-conference foes. The way Gustavus is playing I'd venture to say that their game next week up at Valley City State (NAIA) will be a good one and a chance for the Gusties to redeem themselves for their loss to them last year. Here's hoping the MIAC ends up 17 and 1 at the end of the season. Both Augsburg and Hamline have to play Macalester later in the season for the last two non-conference games.

Did a Tommie player get ejected from their game today?

Wolfman confirms in the post-game that a UST player did get ejected for launching on a defenseless receiver.
I was in St. Peter and it didn't look like "Targeting" worthy of an ejection to me, but I reserve the right to review the tape.

O'Connell's injury was definitely tough to see.  I suppose I'd rather have a compound fracture over a bad concussion or acl tear, but it's hard to stomach when you see a foot turned the wrong direction.

Was a bit worried when the backup John Gould looked headed for a neck injury 2 plays after O'Connell went down.

I came away impressed with the Gustavus defense, they were sniffing out the screens and counters and were able to bring enough pressure on third down.

......which leads me to believe:

That is the best half of offense (163 yards, 14 pts) that SJ1 will have against the likes of UST, Concordia, Bethel and Aug.  More the power to them that they did it against UST.

27 points in the first half. 306 yards for the game. I'm assuming SJU exceeded the mythical 160 yard barrier in the first half. How on earth did Ramler find a way to do it again?

Pretty, pretty, pretty good reply. Hope the J's can run it out from here to make the 14 point/160 yard watch against Bethel really mean something. Impressive win for the Royals today.

Was at the SJU-Auggie game today and at half time they introduced the 2003 DIII national championship team. Maybe I didn't hear correctly, but I could of sworn they said that the 2003 team outscored their opponents 4003 (yes, 4 thousand 3) to 95 !!!!  Checked the SJU web site and according to their stats, the 2003 team scored 534 and gave up 149.  Did anyone else notice this?

Went and checked the numbers just for the regular season, and the numbers were 403 scored and 95 allowed. Guess the announcer misread 403 as 4,003 as I'm positive he said 4,003.  ::)

I think Gustavus has gotten better each year the last few. It hasn't shown up as much in the win column as they might like. But they are SO much more competitive.

That's back to back years they've given UST a very good game. One of the toughest hurdles in turning a program is teaching guys not just to compete but how to finish and win. They've made the first step IMO and there's no reason they shouldn't be competitive in every game they have left.  We'll see if they can start to make the second step as the season plays out...
