I avoided all the mysticism j-term classes over at CSB.

I think J-term predates Sam.  :o  My sophomore year (January 2001) was the last J-term, if I remember correctly.  I worked a lot of hours at the info desk that January.

It was somewhere in there. I started my freshman year in the Fall of 2003 and the upperclassmen were lamenting the passing of J-term. I thought they said the last one was January of 2002.

We had May term, which I believe has since been converted to June term.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

I am hoping that Sura will be O.K. for the stretch run,his running style is a nice complement to Certeza. The Injury to Bjorklund didn't need to happen as #74 Swingen was flagged with a personal foul for the shot he gave after the play was over- it's a shame.

Johnnies are doing enough to win,but definitely will need to clean things up for the final regular season games if they want to make the play-off bracket.

Nice to have this be part of the discussion once again. Jay's should have no problems with Carleton and Hamline. The GAC game in the middle there is the tricky one before ending with Bethel in what could be the MIAC championship game.

I'm not trying to get anyone to pile on to Gags here, but the rapid turn-around sure seems to indicate that Gagliardi's way wasn't cutting it anymore.  SJU has most of the same players out there, and they're getting the job done this year.  The new coaching staff sure seems to be getting a lot more out of the same guys...

Assuming that as you point out, they can get to the last game without any losses, the fact that they would be competing for a conference title in the last game of the year would be an incredible turn around after a 5-5 season last year.

It would be asinine to think he wasn't slowing down a bit in his mid-80s.

The big difference between 2012 and 2013 has to be the defense, right?  Not much has changed in the coaching department there.

Of course he slowed down, John was the first to admit it. But the implication that he didn't know what was going on with his team, or was out of touch, is not true. Nevertheless, it did seem like there was some dysfunction among the coaching ranks that has to affect the team. Plus, frankly, last year SJU just didn't have the horses. There are a lot of young players having an impact this year.
Fasching took on the unenviable task of succeeding a coaching legend at a place with notoriously spoiled/demanding fans. Nothing motivates like fear of failing, and I can imagine the pressure on Gary to put it all together and win. So far, he's exceeded my expectations by being more that up to the task.

AO - true, the defense this year is soooo much better. But offense has improved with experience at QB, more receivers, some great new backs and better play calling.

For sure.  I guess I'm just thinking / wondering that the rapid improvement would seem to indicate that things had lagged under his regime more than just "a bit" during his last couple of years.

Ahh, J-term. 2 classes stand out in my mind: "How to Handle Executive Stress" and "Winter Activities", taught by the wrestling coach!

If anyone wants to check out the play that got the U$T player ejected on Saturday you can view on the archive of the game.  It's on a 3rd down from the GAC 34 yard line...at about the 1:21:00 mark of the recording.  A 15 yard personal foul was warranted...not so sure about an ejection, however if you watch closely the defender has about 5 steps into the WR from the right hash to the middle of the field and appeared to make contact with the head.

...not so sure about an ejection...

Yeah, the ejection seems a bit extreme.

Looks very similar to the hit put on Voshell that didn't even draw a penalty.

I would agree! Will the player miss the net game?  ???

The Game of the Week should be Bethel hosting UST. Anyone of the BU or UST posters want to make a prediction?
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!
