The Game of the Week should be Bethel hosting UST. Anyone of the BU or UST posters want to make a prediction?

Very exciting game Saturday in Collegeville.  Call it Johnnie Magic, luck, whatever, it was with the Johnnies.  Don't know that there can be a lot of Johnnie Magic left in the bottle for this year.  Augsburg outplayed us on both sides of the ball.  Receivers were wide open all afternoon.  Corners got beat deep way too many times.

I don't care what he or his coach say/said, Ayrton Scott was hurt.  He was not going to run the ball unless there was NO other option.  There was no read option.  He was going to and did hand off to the running back each and every time.  You could tell by watching him that he was not reading anything.  That said, his passing skills have taken a huge leap from last year.  Someone did a good job working with him in the off season.  If he is fully healthy, Auggie wins.

Johnnies control their destiny at this point.  All they have to do is win out.   ;D

Bethel takes St. Thomas, won't be close.

UST will be the underdog :o All the pressure is on Bethel...UST is down to the 4th string QB and a redeveloping offense seeking it identity, definitely will be interesting. UST defense will show up they are pretty strong ranked in the top 10 in many categories in D3 Football as a whole. I believe it will be a low scoring game. UST will win if they can establish and maintain a ground game and control the clock!   UST WINS ;D

Maybe the Washington Redskins should keep the nickname "Redskins" and just change their mascot to a potato.

I'm a problem solver. It's what I do.

Looks very similar to the hit put on Voshell that didn't even draw a penalty.

And out of nowhere*...IT"S BUCKMAN !!! With a spot-on post, no less. I was shocked at the no-call on that hit, too. Voshell's head almost flew off.

About a million scenarios for the conference at this point. Including SJU could win out and still not get automatic bid, if Concordia would win out and create a three-way tie, the Cobbers have had the longest time since appearing in playoffs so would get it. Of course under that scenario, and if Bethel was the other 1-loss team, you'd think SJU would get at-large bid with a victory over Royals.

Not to go too far down that what-if rabbit hole, though, since it's still wide open for the most part. But Bethel certainly looks well-above everyone else right now

For the Johnnies' turnaround -- I wrote this a lot last year but there are down years for all programs not named Mount Union. Concordia went 4-6 in 06, 5-5 in 2010 and 2009. Was Horan not cutting it anymore?

Bethel: 6-4 in 2004, 5-5 in 2005 and 2008. Steve Johnson...not cutting it anymore?

That said, they've certainly surpassed my expectations so far and all credit to the coaches and players, new and returning. It's a lot like 2008 and 2009 with the games they're pulling out of a hat, the games they were losing the past three years.

In honor of rabbit holes, Buckman and Christopher Columbus...I'll sprinkle a little karmagic around the field and refill the Johnnie magic bottle. Cheers!

Please forward the University of North Dakota, as they are looking for a new nickname & mascot. This angle would play well with the spud farmers in the valley  ;)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Agree with all of this.

Don't want to call out specific players, but it seemed like Augie WR #18 was having his way with Warner for the most part,  but Graves was able to defend him much better, for whatever reason (maybe just plain lucky).  Anyway, I felt better when Sonnenfeld lined up on Graves' side.

Certeza played a pretty nice game, but had "happy hands" a couple times.  Think he only lost the one.  I hope getting a better handle can be taught!

Voshell made a couple of really nice catches.  Johnnie receiving corps for the future has two very nice pieces in Bungum and Voshell.  Now, if we can only come up with a guy about 6'4 or so . . .

Why Moynihan at TE?  Just to get him in the game (I have no problem with that, altho he's not TE size, just curious)?  Was Ford hurt?  He's listed as having played, but I can't say I remember him doing much.

I like Plombon more every game, he brings it.  And Rose.  And Matuska.

Are we going to have to trade rain/weather for W's this year???  Said to my wife, we can make plans to make the trek from Wisconsin for the Bethel game, but it'll probably be a blizzard.  Don't remember a year with such crappy weather for all the home games.

Whitewater has fallen, why not the Tommies?  BU sees their chance and grabs it!!

With a BU win on Saturday, UST's playoff hopes will be done for.

As for Whitewater, we have something this year we didn't have last season: An offense

...not so sure about an ejection...

Yeah, the ejection seems a bit extreme.

Isn't ejection mandatory when the penalty is called?  I was watching a college game on tv this weekend and a player was flagged for a similar hit and ejected.  I got the impression that the ejection was by rule.

Bethel takes St. Thomas, won't be close.

I'm hoping for and predicting the former, I would be very surprised (but pleased) by the latter.

UST will be playing for their playoff life on Saturday. We've seen that SJU is improved and GAC is still underrated by people.

Losing O'Connell hurts. But this is still a team with a loaded defense and excellent DLine with skill players on Offense. If Bethel can score early and keep putting up points, I think it's hard for UST to keep pace given the upheaval at QB. If it's a slugfest and defensive battle, anything could happen.

UST will be the underdog :o All the pressure is on Bethel...

Disagree. I think both sides are feeling the pressure.

Bethel because UST has had their number for a couple years.

UST because if they lose this they are all but eliminated from the post-season barring utter chaos in the MIAC. If you don't think that puts pressure on the Tommies you're either clueless or this Tommie team is really lacking in the competition department. HINT: I don't think UST lacks the competitive juices  ;) ;D

This scenario only works if Bethel and Cobbers both beat UST down the stretch. If Bethel loses to UST and ends up with 1 loss, then SJU doesn't finish with one loss.

If it did happen as you lay out, I think Bethel would be a strong bet for a Pool C. They'd end up with wins over UST, Wartburg, Augsburg and the Cobbers. The win over the Cobbers would give them the leg up in Pool C consideration.

I don't think we end up with 3 teams at 9-1 though. If UST beats Bethel, I think Bethel will buckle down and win out, eliminating SJU. Then UST and Cobbers still playing assures us only one can end up with one loss. I'd say it's more likely we have two 9-1 teams or carnage.

If Bethel wins Saturday, I think they win out. But you'd have a showdown in Collegeville to finish the season!
