Feeling confident. I think these johnnies are going somewhere.

My prediction for this weekend: 24-10
you may want to change your pick if that's going to be the score.

Chicagoland kids are overrated.  You'd be better off recruiting in Utah.

I was thinking that but then I thought I wouldn't. That way I can maybe have it both ways and be a winner no matter what.

And then there was the basketball game between Augustana and South Dakota State. The security guards were patting down everyone who came into the arena to make sure no one was bringing in any frozen jack rabbits. Evidently the guards missed a few. When the South Dakota State team was introduced before the game, there were a number of frozen jack rabbits thrown out on the floor by fans from Augustana. An experience I will never forget.
My wife's sister/her hubby & one of their sons are Auggie grads, so I have heard a number of those same stories! One year to avoid the pat down, they were forced to plant a few of the jack rabbits in the gym ahead of time. Needless to say, they weren't quite frozen by the time the game started.
With enough newbs here and apologies to the regulars, I will repost a tale I've probably noted before. But in the late '70s/early '80s, the Fightin' Sue officials tried hard to prevent frozen badgers hitting the ice when 'Sconsin was in town. When UND scored and before they could even get the "sieve" cheer going, out flew a frozen Bucky. Turns out it had been carried into the rink dressed as a baby.

and of course the greatest college hockey fight of all time...

+k Kubiac. You need to show up more often.  How are things?  Are you home or off somewhere convincing bad guys to be good guys?

Cary Eades!

My family has had season tickets to Sioux hockey since I was about 7 years old. I've seen dead goofers and badgers, but nothing since UND was playing in the old REA. Funny thing is, they dug up the best place in town to get goofers and badgers when they dug up the Bronson property to build the new REA.

I hate this Big 10 hockey crap and UND going to something called the NCHC.

AO, did you take that J term class at Macalester "Smoke Fest"? ;D ... I hope you were kidding about the kids from Illinois being overrated...Maybe you should look at this link and see how many Kids from Illinois are being recruited by "underrated elite College football programs"  like Alabama, Michigan and others,     compared to the rest of the Midwest and you might be surprised.

http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/playerrankings/_/region/Midwest/class/2014/view/region

My point is I believe that the MIAC is a great conference and I want to see the MIAC gain access to more of the kids down here.  The marketing effort is weaker than you think down here compared to the rest, like I stated earlier.  I just want the MIAC to take the Chicago and Greater Illinois more serious in their recruiting effort.  Most of the Kids are very open to go to a winning program anywhere in the Midwest. True a lot of the kids from Illinois go to the usual schools and conferences, but with the positive results that most of the teams in the MIAC conference is getting currently the kids are talking notice!   MIACC could be a preferred destination for D3 Kids from Chicago like the WIAC and others local conferences.

Well just my opinion! ;D  Smoke on buddy :o ;D

With the new look MIAC being so competitive and on the national scene having 4 teams in the D3Football Top 25 what is the future of the conference?
Will the competition be fierce for years to come or is this a one year occurrence?
Will the MIAC replace the WIAC as the toughest conference in the country?
How will the competition influence recruiting, especially in the Chicago area where the WIAC has been cherry-picking for years...

Feel free to comment  8-)

I want to think the MIAC is a top 3-4 conference each year, but this year it has to be top 2 with the WIAC.

Since BU put a monkey stomp on the Cobbs last weekend, do they do the same to UST without their starting QB?  Too bad about his leg/ankle.  Any Tommies know what the extent of the injury is?  Can he get a medical redshirt?

I'm curious about this too...maybe Pat or someone else who is knowledgable can chime in.

I think the standard is that you have to have participated in 1/3 or fewer of your team's games...so since St. Thomas has a 10 game regular season, and he sat out the Carleton game, he's participated in 4 of 10...which would seem to disqualify him.  However, if they make the playoffs, that adds games to their schedule...do those count?  Say they go 2 games into the playoffs and thus have a 12 game season...meaning he would meet the 1/3 requirement, does it work that way?

Regardless of the medical redshirt, O'Connell is probably well on his way to a degree and won't want to pay for an extra year of school for a fifth college football season.  What's great about D3 is these kids are contributing members of society who also play football.  Would he be able to take graduate school classes and still play football there?

I am done with visiting every armpit/cesspool overseas.  I have been back stateside for about 2 years now,  ended up with some severe blood clots that almost took me out.  You must be clairvoyant or something about convincing bad guys to be good, I now work for the DOC haha.

Well, that seems like a pretty big assumption.  Plus, he wouldn't have to pay for a year...just the fall semester.

Plenty of guys take the medical redshirt and play an extra season, I'm not sure why you'd be so quick to say that he won't.

And you pay by the credit, so he'd just spread out the cost over an extra semester. Not the same as paying for another full semester.

It is one-third, but you round up, so one-third of 10 is four.

Plenty of LINFIELD guys took advantage of medical redshirt. They know one never comes this way again.
