Geez.  Look at that poll.  Tomorrow will be a slam dunk for Bethel.

Nope. Found a half pint of Linfield bourbon 40 years ago.
Opened, tasted, closed, and it evaporated over 20 years. Label dried out and disintegrated.

Carleton is taunting SJU with a "regular" video feed and a "HD" video feed.  Way to go Knights!

Talk about reckless disregard for game attendance.

Be forewarned, the HD feed was garbage for the Bethel game. It would buffer, play for 3 seconds, buffer for a minute, play three seconds, buffer for another minute...

It wasn't just me, I know 3 other guys had the same problems. The regular feed was just fine though, didn't buffer once. You'll definitely want to mute it and listen to VOJ though. Announcer was a serious homer. Must have thrown 20 flags from the pressbox that didn't appear on the field. At least with VOJ those flags will get thrown against the Kaniggets  ;) ;D 8-)

Thanks for the heads-up, especially since I was going to try and hook my crappy laptop up to the big screen.  I always mute and listen to VOJ!  Good luck to your Royals tomorrow.

You know they don't charge even a plug nickel for admission to the games at Carleton.

Hoping my father in laws internet out of Emily, MN can handle the low-def webcast. :o

Really hoping the Jays have the game in hand by half time so we can start the trek back home to St. Small by 3 pm.

Don't blame the rain. It's much easier to blame the streaming webcast.

I'm a Johnnie and I'm blindly loyal to all things Collegeville--to the extent that I have adopted the horribly flawed logic that webcasts affect the attendance at games.

It is applicable at all times in all sports in all parallel universes.

#2 and her team are state gymnastics champions for their level.  She qualified for the state individual finals in three weeks as well. Very happy today in the Oz household.

Bethel - UST Game Preview

One thing I hope continues today is the excellent play calling by the offensive coaches. Petie and Scotty have been nearly flawless so far this season. The way they've called the games is an superb fit to their personnel and very unpredictable. Always tougher to call games against a great D, because some things are bound to get stopped. But I think they'll have some wrinkles and adapt well as the game progresses.

On the other side, Bethel needs to hold up against the run. UST wants to pound at them with that big OLine, if we can take that away or limit it, we put the game into the hands of a less experienced QB.

Here's to a great game and both sides staying healthy!

Go Royals!!

The UST run game is what I am most worried about, especially with Bethel's active LB core. To your point though, the o-line at UST always gets a great push off the ball....but from the little film I've watch three things worry me from there:
1) the line has a difficult time holding their blocks for more than 3 seconds.  D-lines have shown an ability to shed blocks and chip the running backs in the holes. 3 seconds should be about enough of a block to create a crease for the RBs....but...
2) the running backs do not hit the holes between the tackles quickly enough, it seems.  They seem to wait to see what holes the initial o-line push will create, and then they try to hit them...by which time the have closed.  The need to anticipate the hole, get to the line quicker and ride the wave of those big linemen.  I don't know if they line up too deep (at 8+ yards usually) or the handoff is too slow, but they need to be at the line sooner for runs between the tackles.
3) the combo of one and two often lead to flowing backers shooting backside gaps for big tackles for losses.  The o-linemen are loosing track of the LBs on the zone stack blocks. The QB also hasn't done a good job with fakes to keep the LBs honest.

Worried hesitation in the backfield today will lead to far too many tackles for losses.
The last shall be first and the shall be.......

I follow the SJU Rat Pack on Facebook and noticed the following post today:

"We will always remember Justin Lothert as one of the most cheerful and honorable Johnnies who constantly upheld our Benedictine values! May The Lord shine upon you Justin, our prayers go out to you and your family."

Justin was a junior at SJU and had been fighting brain cancer since he was diagnosed at age 17.

It makes this football talk seem kind of trivial.
