But, Br. Mark still had us work ball boy detail during games. Good thing I only had to do it once. The Johnnies were 0-1 with me on the sideline. At least Alex Kofoed made my experience memorable as it was his debut and dramatic almost-comeback.

Being on the team, I got preferential treatment once the season started (but crap duty during the summer--paver repair with Rich was awful).  Most of the fall consisted of me holding the strings while Rich painted lines.  That, and I usually used the little steam-roller thing to roll out the turf on Mondays following home games.  Boring, yes, but much better than cleaning up the stadium!  We also used to have to shovel lots of deer crap off the field!  :o

I hated winters.  3:00 a.m. shoveling on week nights is awful.  Getting my info desk gig was a real blessing!

A tradition unrivaled...

For the first time in a while had a chance to visit the Bethel football website.  It is very impressive.  Clean and easy.  The video stream this weekend was also very convenient and easy to access.  The strech internet software is the best broadcast system I've seen.  Better than the clunky system UST uses.  With one click I was able to stream the video on my iphone while out and about on Sat.

I also like this preview package they put together....got a little video interview and an info graphics....nice!

I was actually just planning to post a shout out to Bethel SID Jared Johnson. He's really raised the bar in his first few years on the job. He's brought a nice level of professionalism in addition to utilizing digital and social media. SID's put in tons of hours at odd times and usually only get mentioned for screwing something up. So, shout out to Jared, he's doing a superb job for BU!

Sorry if this post is a little advanced for those without a web broadcast.....but anyone know of a school that lets you download old broadcasts free of charge?  I'd like to see that happen sooner rather than later.  Frustrating that I am not able to pull out a GIF from last weekends game to post on here.

The final 3 games of the schedule shake up very nice for SJU. Based on injuries to some key positions the bye couldn't have come at a better time. It will hopefully give Bruns, Sura and others a chance to get healthy heading into a tough game at GAC. In the event they aren't able to bounce back after multiple weeks off it should allow for those filling in to get more work. All that being said my expectation is for the Jay's to come away with a win in two weeks. One interesting storyline in that game will be how the transfer QB for GAC does against his former team.

Having the Hamline game sandwiched between GAC and Bethel is huge. I'd be more concerned about the GAC game and the team looking ahead to Bethel if they didn't have an easy game between them. If all goes as planned Bethel should enter the final game of they year undefeated. From all accounts they've great most of the year and continue to get better. I know they'd be the favorite but I wouldn't want to bet against SJU at home with a chance to win the MIAC.

In a few weeks I'll do the unthinkable and root for St Glenn and the Tommies when they host the Concordia. I'd rather not find out what the tiebreaker scenarios are in a three-way tie.

If things shake out that way, it has the potential to be have a similar setup as the 2007 game when an undefeated SJU came to Arden Hills and the win would have been nice to have, but not a do-or-die situation, as it was for Bethel.  We know how that worked out...  ;D .

As you pointed out...lots of football left to be played, but that would sure create a fun finale.

Hey Oz,

No, they're all up near Sydney.  I was up there last week but didn't really notice any smoke.  I'm in the insurance industry and our exposure is low so I don't think the damage is too bad. But it's an area of Sydney where we don't have a lot of risk so it could be fortune we're not exposed.

EDIT: fixed all the iPhone related typos for you typing NAZIs.

I think 3-way tiebreaker -- with Concordia, Bethel and Johnnies -- would mean Cobbers get automatic, since they've had the longest time since last playoff appearance. In that scenario, if all three are 9-1 but SJU has beaten Bethel, you'd think Johnnies would get edge in at-large.

This is directed at the legal eagles our there....Johnnie Red, et al.....A little help here...is it good to get jury duty the Monday before Thanksgiving?  Got home today and had the summons in the mail.  Report Monday, November 25th to the Ramsey County Courthouse.  My guess is the docket will be quite light that week.  I've already got a comp day on Wednesday so I'm kinda hoping I can parlay it into almost a full week off work w/out actually sitting on a jury.
Thanks for in advance for the input.

So your line is SJU +24? I can't argue with making Bethel the favorite but that's a large spread. I agree that Bethel will be favored but there's a lot of things in SJU's favor should they get to the 10th game at 8-1.

Fury...I trust your understanding of the auto qualifier but SJU getting in because of the head-to-head win is scary. Bethel has been the better ranked team all season (I know the polls mean nothing) but would one win be enough to vault SJU over a larger body of work by Bethel? Is there any precedent of a higher ranked team losing out to a lower ranked one because of head-to-head results?
