Yeah, figured the question people would be asking about Caruso this year was: Will he leave for another job?

Instead it might be: Has the game passed him by?
I heard he was leaving for an NESCAC school. Guess he doesn't want to compete in the playoffs any more. ;D

This is funny

LINFIELD was certainly out of sorts 2006-20082007, but mainly because the all important conference game was lost by few points while out gaining Whitworth twice.  In 2008, Willamette took us behind the woodshed.

Fixed that for you Dens.

More like Merben Woo took Linfield behind the woodshed. I bet Linfield fans were happy to see him graduate. Woo rushed for 110 yards against Linfield in 2008...on just FIVE CARRIES!!!!!

I wasn't thrilled when UWW had to face them in the playoffs that year...we barely escaped that damn fly offense of theirs.

D-Train,

As much as that pains me they did take us to the woodshed in 2008 but it wound up being the best thing to happen to Linfield going forward.  Moved a lot of freshmen into the starting lineup that wound up being key players in Linfield's current run.  It also helped that Boehme was healthy the next year too!

11 - you know I'm not a Willamette fan (especially this week), but that 2008 squad was pretty legit.  That was a great playoff game vs. UWW.

Agree with both statements.

11- this is priceless experience for the youngster. Steve Johnson at Bethel has been doing this for the past 15+ years. He will land his recruit, primarily with QB & RB- throw them into the fire as Freshmen and ride them for 4 years.  Mike Johnson,Phil Porta, Logan Flahnery are example I can think of as RB & Kirchoff,Peterson (current) as well as the QB prior to Peterson- 4 yr starters and they are scarey good the last 2 years. Concordia also- QB Schumacher,Honebrink(sp?) and Griffin Neal. Augsburg with Ayrton Scott, that kid is going to be real tough to game plan over the next 2 years.

Game experience is crucial to develop these young guys as you pointed out with Linfield's success.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Very true...BU has found much success with this setup, particularly in the positions that get noticed (QB & RB) Wetzell, Aakre, Johnson, Porta, Flannery, Marquardt, Klitzke...Peterson is close to that template, but his first year starting was last year, as a sophomore.

It might have been a 420 fest but I did complement the Collegeville Kids.
