How did the qb from Auggie Tech get ejected?  Does he automatically get suspended from the 1st half of this weekends game?

ALL posts count.  Including replies.

I could of sworn I replied to several posts but my post count didn't go up, maybe I was mistaken. We will see if my post count goes up to 17 after this reply.

....could have. could have. COULD HAVE!!!

No .... could've.  could've.  COULD'VE!!!!    ;)

Pat - Why do you have to put the damper on a perfectly good, albeit worthless, and a waste of time, back-and-forth. I thought we might be able to whip this baby for a couple more weeks.

I would say its trivial, but with the small population, I have the say that it is a material weakness.

D3MAFAN, I'm betting you and are the only ones who get that.

I don't know if it is a new rule this year or just being enforced this year.  I like the rule.  The players gotta learn to keep them strapped up.  When I played if your helmet came off in a game it was a good thing because it meant the doctor had easier time checking on you.  I just turned 31 so no leather helmet jokes.

I agree that players need to keep their helmets strapped, but making them sit out a play really doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Football is a violent game and helmets come off sometimes even if they are strapped on. I understand when a player is injured that they should sit out at least 1 play for safety reasons, but don't know why it would be a safety reason if your helmet comes off. If it is because they (league officials) want to make sure helmets are strapped on, then it would make more sense to asses a penalty if a player doesn't have his helmet strapped on. I don't know about college, but when I was playing high school football it was a 15 yard penalty if you didn't have your mouth piece in. They could do the same for unstrapped helmets rather than make them sit out a play. Just me 2 cents worth.

Coach can call a timeout to get the player back in the game without missing a play.

Yes, that is true, but why should it cost a team a timeout? I just don't see the need to make a player sit out a play (or cost the team a timeout) just because his helmet came off.

I am pretty sure this is a) a new rule at all levels of college football and b) rigorously enforced. The reasoning is simple and one I completely support.  With the ever cascading data on head injury in football, the one piece of equipment designed to protect the head is the helmet.  In order for a helmet to provide protection, it has to be properly fit.  If a helmet comes off during a play -- for argument (and safety) purposes, either the helmet was not properly fit, or in need of adjustment, thus sitting out a play for required equipment inspection/fit.  That is my understanding of the rule.

If that is the reason for the new rule, then it sure didn't get applied properly in the game I saw. When it happened, the player would pick up his helmet, put it back on and then stand on the sidelines for a play and then return to the game. Didn't look like anyone was checking his helmet or the player for that matter. I understand the intent of the rule, but it doesn't appear to be serving the intended purpose.

Not to bring back up the dying horse, but I've been too busy to throw this in there.

I'm told St. Thomas' web site doesn't give them the option to list neutral sites. (Yes, it's apparently a crappy publishing system. I know they are coming over to the good guys at PrestoSports at some point soon.)

A quick perusal of the baseball schedule, a sport which generally has a fair number of neutral games, shows that to be the case:
http://www.tommiesports.com/bsbl/schedule/

BTW, I noted another MIAC school has five playoff games on its schedule as well. Fact is, this is NOT unique.

The difference is that the other school simply listed all playoff dates in a separate section from the regular schedule and didn't specify a location, while UST listed only the 1st round playoff game in their regular schedule as a home game. Not the same.

As I stated earlier, GAC was pretty much committed to stopping the run today, so when the defenders saw the swing pass to Hallstrom which they had done a few times before, and the defense bit on it and by then it was too late as Hilbrands got a couple steps behind the defense and it was a great pass by Hallstrom.

I think Hallstrom has a shot at MIAC offensive player of the week and Mehlhorn with his BU record 101 yard int return and a blocked field goal has a chance at defensive player of the week.

Well, 1 of my predictions came true. Congratulations Matt Mehlhorn on being MIAC defensive player of the week!

Well, I did assure myself of no financial loss by offering no monetary inducement for taking the bet.
