Tomorrow we'll be discussing the topic IFRS and US GAAP: similarities and differences
over your dead body  :)

I'd rather listen to Doney et al continue beating the arrogance/presumption horse into Elmer's glue.... we should have several gallons of the stuff by now   :)

To me, its like AJ Pierzynski.....you don't mind and rather like having him for a teammate, but if he's on the other team, dang is he obnoxious! Same thing for the "arrogance" of listing possible playoff games regardless of site listed. Altho I seem to recall in year's past SJU had postseason games listed for several sports, but then we defer to Duff's wisdom "when SJ1 does it, its good, when u$t does it its not"

Closed circuit to ROR--- I will handle the dirty tricks dept in your campaign--- Nixon would be proud of me :D
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

I too am very nervous about this Gustie game.  SJU has pretty much had their way with the Gusties these for the past 25 years or more.  This is what worries me:

Oct. 12, 1996 Away W, 48-16
Oct. 11, 1997 Home L, 16-24
Nov. 13, 1998 Metrodome W, 36-13

Gustavus is going to be really pumped for this game.  Last 25 games, Johnnies are 25-1.  Quarterback with something to prove.  Best shot at beating the Johnnies in a long, long time.

I hope the Gustavus students are excited about this game and will make a good showing.  Always a better atmosphere when the seats have fannies in them.

All adds up to what should be an exciting game.  Weather outlook is low 40's, some sun, no rain.  Hopefully no/low wind.

Looking at the remaining MIAC schedule, Gustavus has the Johnnies, then Carleton and finish out with the Cobbers up North. I concur with ROR, they will be pumped for this game because if they can get the win they will have a winning season, as they will probably win against the Knights and lose to Concordia, all other things being equal. It has all the makings of being a great game!

I am on the same page as you guys on this game. The Johnnies will have their hands full with GAC. I base this on what I saw this year at the SJU - Augsburg game and the past two years of very close games of Augsburg - GAC.

Not sure if you SJU fans caught this last night, but another piece on John in retirement:

KSTP.com: A Chat w/ Legendary St. John's Football Coach John Gagliardi

Best line from the whole piece: "I've been married to this gal for  50-some odd years and football consumed my life so much that I didn't know that she was such a nice chick!"

Good to hear from John and to see he's doing well.

I had not seen that.  Thanks for posting.

I'm well aware GAC is improved and has played some of the better teams in the league tough. Having grown up near St Peter it's nice to see them being a relative factor in the MIAC. I didn't see much of the QB, Hendricks, in HS but I did watch one of his state HS games at the dome and was impressed with him and excited when he ended up at SJU. Should be interesting to see what he does against his old team. It could be a spark or he could end up pressing a bit.

Having said that I don't see how the Johnnies lose this one. Even before the season started I would have been disappointed with an SJU loss. Not out of any disrespect to GAC but as ROR indicated, the Jays have had their number in 25 of the last 26 meetings. For all of GAC's improvement SJU has also taken steps in the right direction. It will be interesting to see if and how much of Bruns and Sura are available.

I'll be seeing my first MIAC game at GAC's newish Hollingsworth Field but it won't be my first ever game. A few years ago my brother's Nicollet Raiders opened their season against the Cleveland Raiders. Nicollet was technically the visiting team and won. Hoping for another victory by the visitors this weekend.

Saved for next week. Thanks! This game might throw a wet blanket on the Smoke Fest.

This one is a tough call for me in pick 'em...I definitely expect SJU to win, but given the way that Gustavus has played well against some tough teams, and the way that SJU hasn't exactly been dominant (see the Carleton game), I think it Gustavus could easily be within AO's 9.5 spread...I'm taking them and the points....for now.

The new d3football.com front page looks sharp Pat!

Agreed.  Well done.  I really like the photos of the football stadiums.  The Dubuque photo is awesome.  Looks like they built a really nice facility.

Just one issue, can't find the link to Post Paterns.   ;) 8-)
