I guess Bethel should be rated #2 in the D3Football top 25 according to the recent podcast. According to Pat and Keith.

I didn't get that take. I think they were just looking at the criteria and discussing how it might play out in the RR. I don't think either would or are putting Bethel in the top 3 of the Top 25.

Bluenote has a curious way of taking things as a slight. Glad you listened, Bluenote, but I think you missed the point.

No, I think blue note had it dead right: Linfield's is small and underserving and the color purple is for wusses.

Anybody else aware that the MN high school football finals are being played 14-15 days after the semi-finals?  Seems like a long break...especially considering that most teams that make the finals will spend two weeks practicing in the school gym (and yes all winter sports season will have been started by that time).

Yes, an in law of mine plays for Holdingford, so I was looking ahead at the state brackets and noticed that.  Seems odd since they could've avoided having games played over the Thanksgiving holiday if they would have played the immediately following week.  I wonder if there was some sort of facility conflict with the Dome that drove that?  Or maybe they wanted the games over Thanksgiving regardless?

I'm told it's because those were the dates the Ch. 45 wanted.  Good thing this is all in the interest of what is best for kids.

Does the MSHSL think they will get more spectators at the Dome for championship games if they are held over Thanksgiving weekend?  I can only assume that's correct.  No other reason to do it, unless their is a conflict with another sport (soccer maybe)?

Well....that wasn't my point. Wildcat11 explained it pretty well on the NWC Board..... how it works and what the differences in the rankings and polls are.....

Do we know what time to expect the Regional Rankings to be posted at?

I think it's their belief (and of Ch. 45) that attendance and TV viewership is better after Thanksgiving...personally   don't buy that.

Looked at the MSHSL site and saw that soccer was last weekend, so that would support the idea that is is based on tv viewership.

The football playoffs are going to be really exciting when the dome's out of commission. In 2015 because of scheduling issues the regular season might start earlier and have fewer games and a lot fewer teams in the playoffs. I think it's supposed to be resolved after that when Zygi's new playground opens...if it opens.

I don't see the attendance aspect. The student bodies, parents and fans are going to travel regardless.

But I can see how 45 thinks the ratings are better over Thanksgiving. People hanging out over the holidays have football on the TV. I know we've tuned in to watch when we had not vested interest in the teams. It was something on in the background while the family hung out. But it wouldn't have been on if it wasn't that weekend and in that setting.

Still, I think it's strange to have them wait 2 weeks. Might make for some interesting wrinkles in the play-calling and game-planning with the extra prep work.
