Congratulations, Johns, on a 7-3 season, including a victory over UST, in your first year with a new head coach.  It's a good result. We wish it had been a better year (you gave us hints at times) but it's not been a bad one.

So I hope you all train hard and come out swinging next year.  It should be good.  You've got some beastly talent.
Indeed, congrats to the players and staff at SJU on a season that surely exceeded all the but the most optimistic expectations.  7-3 and a win over U$TD is a step in the right direction, and it certainly looks like better days lie ahead.  Hats off to you all, and I hope that at least a few Bethel folks accepted the invitation to Stiftungfestivities.  Really miss the burgers and good company!

Congratulations to the winner, FCGG. And I will forever rue the week I neglected to put my tips in.

And a hearty thank you to AO for once again giving us a top notch pickem's season.

Congrats Bethel on winning the conference title and an undefeated regular season.  Good luck in the post-season.  That blocked field goal really shifted momentum back in your favor.

As for SJU, I am eagerly awaiting next season as a lot of underclassmen got some valuable experience this year, not to mention the coaching staff.  Sure there are some weaknesses that need to be improved upon, but I like how the defense kept us in a lot of games and the running game of Certeza and Sura should be solid for years to come.  A lot of exciting games this season and SJU met or slightly exceeded my expectations.

Hear hear!

Always fun to check in on how foolish my picks look in hindsight!

Thanks for another season AO!

Ouch. That loss is going to leave a mark. Carleton had a great comeback in the rain and soggy conditions and they looked good. Ayrton Scott was not running today so without that weapon the Auggies are a different team. Scott has improved as a passer though so there are some positives to take out of this season. He has Sonnenfeld to throw to now and they are both sophomores (juniors next year) so the future looks bright. Several sophomores and freshmen played a lot this year so I am looking forward to a bounce back season next year. Jerise Washington looked good all year and today I heard Putratz is coming back so that is huge. If Tyler Maxwell can get back on the field then this team looks very solid for next year.

Better QB play, better DB coverage, or more intense pass rush. Those are the two/three ingredients the Johnnies need next year. Not o lot better, just improvement from this year. The youth will serve us better with a year of experirnce behind them. No injuries might help too. Oh, and more use of TE's.

I'll throw my thanx in as well for AO taking the time to run the MIAC Pick-em's this year. When will we see the final results - so I can see how bad a guesser I am?  ;D

Congrats to Bethel on a hard-fought win and a nice MIAC season.  SJU showed flashes of competing with the cream of the MIAC, but there were some breakdowns today that Bethel exploited, and they certainly deserved to win.  I was quite impressed with Bethel's team speed and the play of their QB.  Their receivers made some huge drops in the first half but looked better later in the game.

As for SJU, they did about as well as I was hoping for this year.  7-3 with a win over UST, and the future is looking bright.  There are a lot of young, talented players on the roster that got some excellent experience this year, so I think 2014 will be an exciting MIAC race.

I went to the Sioux Falls alumni chapter gathering to watch the Johnnie game, and it was a great time (even with the Jays having a rough outing on the field). The turnout was small, but Sioux Falls isn't a very big alumni association chapter.

A member of the class of 1980 was there with some great stories about shenanigans in the basement of Rat Hall, and taking William F. Buckley on a tour of campus, part of which included a trip through the marijuana haze on the first floor of Tommy Hall.

Also, I have certainly done my fair share of pouting about not being able to sit in my boxers at my kitchen table and watch the Johnnies in the comfort of my own home. But, the one upside of having these events around the country is getting together with Johnnies (past, present, and future) and sharing some outstanding memories.

Congrats to Bethel on the MIAC Championship. Here's to them serving as a great representative of the conference in the national playoffs.

And, I echo the sentiments of a number of other Johnnies on the board when I say I can't wait for the 2014 season. I'll happily raise a glass to a 2013 season that was better than I expected. To be sure, it had its ups and downs, but the general trend is very much up.

GO JOHNNIES!
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

That's what made NDSU football games fun when I was in F-M, back when they were winning D-II titles:  southern teams coming in to play at Dakotah Field in Nov/Dec. Not sure what they were thinking as they deplaned and saw the temperature.

Augustana's not exactly a southern team, but still a great video..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOXkT107x2E

SUMMIT!!!!!

Maybe SJU can do like Occidental --- Oxy wants $12.95 to watch their hoops team...that's per game. there is a season's pass package but since I only wanted to watch them lose to UST tonight and have no interest in watching them again, I passed on the package. I also opted to follow the live stats which are free instead of paying to watch the video. However, the "live" stats is a joke-- it doesn't update unless I refresh and has been stuck at the 12:07 mark in 2nd half for 20 minutes now... Didn't the late politician Jack Kemp play football at Oxy?

Kemp isn't the biggest political name to have attended Oxy.

Congrats to the Bethel football team on an undefeated regular season and MIAC championship. Good luck in the playoffs!!

Having to attend a family funeral today I was unable to be at or follow the game. It appears that Bethel was pretty much in control for most of the day, but the stats indicate otherwise as other than the score the stats were fairly even. Did SJU get some late stats after the game was decided or was the game as close as the stats indicated? I see Bethel missed a field goal (along with blocking a SJU field goal) and heard that Bethel turned it over deep in SJU territory. Was that an int or was it turned over on downs? Also, was it raining during the game - as it was raining pretty good here in the Cities during game time.

Definitely a relevant improvement and now it is pretty much a non-argument as to which conference has the most parity. Congrats to all the teams that met and exceeded expectations.
