Weather report for Arden Hills on Saturday is 41 F, overcast, 6 mph winds and no chance of precipitation. Wish I was in the twin cities this weekend to take in the game, but I will be down in the KC, KS area for the holidays. I'll be watching the stream and checking in on things as I can.

Go Royals!

I was very happy to see this after earlier reports this week were showing snow on saturday.

I'll be in attendance, and am thankful that it won't be as cold as last week's game would have been in Arden Hills...hoping the Royals can keep it rolling!

I'll be in attendance for the first time this year!!!! Back in the Cities for Thanksgiving. Can't wait to see the team in person. The streams are nice, but nothing beats seeing it live.

Of course, if they lose on my first and only game day appearance, I may be like the guy in the Bud Light commercial...confined to the basement/KC for the remainder of my days to ensure they keep winning  :)

If a course correction should be needed on saturday, I'll make my basement available.  It's only a 20 minute drive, and while you'll be alone, there is beer in the bottom drawer of the fridge.  :)

Perfect...and knowing you, I don't have worry about it being stocked with Bud Light  :P

SUMMIT!!!!!

We are testing a new coffee at the office and it made me immediately think of my MIACPP friends ....its called Level 4 (and let me tell you, it works!!)

Happy Thanksgiving to all....and safe travels!  Whip the warts, BU!   and wins for all MIAC teams in all other sports this long weekend.
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

Loved the graphic the SID dept put together highlighting the 1st Team All MIAC, MVP and COY recipients.

Doesn't get stated enough, but Jared Johnson has done a bangup job as the BU SID. Taken things to the next level in terms of quality, professionalism and utilizing social media. Well done!

Princeton uses 3 QBs. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-saturday/princeton-successfully-runs-formation-three-quarterbacks-field-once-144340544--ncaaf.html and if you have 3 QBs you might need 7 linemen to protect them.

Yeah, they're all good players, but seriously, 1/3 of your conference's QB's shouldn't be all conference first team.

Opening myself up to some criticism here, but this is how I'd break down the team. Lock for first team in bold (i.e. if we were doing a strictly 11/11/3 team, this is who I'd put on it), strikethrough means I would bump them to 2nd even on a slightly fudged/expanded 1st team.

And let me start by saying, this is in my limited opinion. I've seen each team against BU. Then UST, Cobbers & Augsburg a few more incomplete games. More than that, every kid listed is obviously a very good player. In most other D3 leagues, most of our 2nd team guys are likely 1st teamers. This shouldn't take anything away from the kids who actually got named. I'm pretty sure no SID's are going to cite the All Hazzben team, but they'll definitely list the All MIAC one  ;D

Erik Peterson   Bethel    Jr.    QB   Orono, Minn.
Ayrton Scott   Augsburg   So.   QB   Minneapolis, Minn. / Southwest league record, performance in the biggest games...not yet where it needs to be.
Mitch Hallstrom Bethel   Sr.   WR    Eden Prairie, Minn. - Led MIAC in ypg, 2nd in rec, yds & TD's
Joey Sonnenfeld   Augsburg   So.    WR    Maple Grove, Minn. / Osseo - led MIAC in ypg & TD's
Brandon Zylstra    Concordia   Jr.   WR   Spicer, Minn. / New London-Spicer - Led MIAC in ypc, 7 TD's
Adam Carl   Augsburg    Sr.   TE   Eagan, Minn. - used in the slot an awful lot, makes the TE listing & stats for a TE deceiving.
Jeffrey Dubose   Gustavus    Sr.   RB    St. Paul, Minn. / St. Croix Lutheran - just a very good RB all around, he really impressed me this year...24 TD's!
Austin Duncan   Hamline    So.   RB   New Orleans, La. / Jesuit - ypc and TD's show the difference between the 3 RB's.
Brandon Marquardt    Bethel   Jr.   RB   Champlin, Minn. / Champlin Park - all purpose, TD's, ypc...all elite

2013 MIAC Football All-Conference First Team Defense

Nate Adams   Concordia    Jr.   DL   Litchfield, Minn. - Stam guy is a lock
Luke Buttenhoff   Bethel    Sr.   DL   Watertown, Minn. / Mayer Lutheran - monster in a scheme that doesn't favor the Dline
Chris DeVet   Augsburg    Jr.   DL   Shoreview, Minn. / Mounds View
Riley Dombek   St. Thomas   Sr.   DL   Inver Grove Heights, Minn. / Cretin-Derham Hall  - he's a player...period
Donte Green   Gustavus    Sr.   DL   Minneapolis, Minn. / North 2 sacks, 3.5 TFL, probably a quality player, but not 1st team.
Joe Haas   Gustavus    Sr.   ILB   Mission, Kan. / Shawnee Mission North - only 60 total tkls sticks out...plus, we live in the SM South district  :P
Michael Juberian   Augsburg    Jr.   ILB   Richfield, Minn. / Benilde-St. Margaret's
Seth Mathis   Bethel    Sr.   ILB   Anoka, Minn.
Andrew Rose   Saint John's     Jr.   ILB   Stillwater, Minn. - took DeVet over him...63 tkls, 12 TFL 5 sacks for dline v. 85 tkls, 9, 1 for LB - could've gone either way. Missed some plays in the BU game that a 1st teamer makes
Tyler Berling   Concordia    Sr.   OLB   Melrose, Minn. / Sauk Centre - 60 total tkls again
Harry Pitera   St. Thomas    Sr.   OLB   St. Paul, Minn. / Cretin-Derham Hall
Tremayne Williams   St. Thomas   Sr.   OLB   Appleton, Wis. / North
Hakeem Bourne-McFarlane     Augsburg    Sr.   DB   Bloomington, Minn. / Kennedy - he should be in bold, but I'm making him my Ret guy
Josh Carey   St. Thomas    Sr.   DB   Rogers, Minn. - 1 INT, 5 BRUP...not sure if this is a reason to keep him off or evidence teams avoided him  ???
Zach Dilger   Gustavus    Jr.   DB   South St. Paul, Minn. - 3 INT, 12 BRUP
Matt Mehlhorn   Bethel    So.   DB   Lakeville, Minn. / South - 7 BRUP, 3 INT's, 2 BLKs
Kenyon O'Brien   Concordia    Sr.   DB   Lake Park, Minn. / Lake Park-Audubon - 5 INT, 4 BRUP ... good tackle numbers. All around DB

Yeah, they're all good players, but seriously, 1/3 of your conference's QB's shouldn't be all conference first team.

St John's had 2 starting QB's this year. I seem to recall that UST did also. I would assume there are others who fit this mold, due to injury or other circumstances.
