The complete Hawthorn v Geelong 2013 Preliminary Final. The Hawks' first victory over the Cats since the 2008 Grand Final. This was a hard, tight match where neither side could run away and both sides fought like devils when their backs were against the wall.

Thanx Oz - I only got to the start of the second quarter before I had to shut it down for the evening - will go back and watch the remainder. Definitely an aerobic workout for the players.

No worries, art. I was at the game and was pretty dang sour at three quarter time, I can tell you.

And if you're really feeling into the Australian sport scene then here are some highlights of the Ashes. The Ashes is the every other year in alternating countries battle between Australia and England in a five match series of cricket tests (a cricket test is a 5 day game that can result in a win, loss, draw or no-contest if a match doesn't finish in the alotted five days).  We're currently on the second day of the second test.

Oh, sorry. That was a ten minute video of paint drying. Very similar to test cricket.

Not knowing how reliable, but my sources tell me Caruso to UND

Is your source Reusse's tweet from Tuesday?

Reusse?  And no denial from UST yet?  Take it to the bank.  Gone.

Yeah, but as I pointed out on Twitter on Tuesday, Caruso isn't on the list of candidates. Latest list:

That could still change, as the blog post points out. Application deadline Dec. 10.

I know I'm stating the obvious, but my son-in-law just attempted to but up lights for my wife and I and he had to come in 4 different times over 40 minutes to warm up!  He mentioned two different times on how he can't even imagine those boys playing in these conditions.  His son was a great player for the Royals several years ago and he's not sure if he'd even want his own boy playing, very dangerous!  It's 7 degrees right now and the forecast say's -6 on Saturday, without the wind!!

I have to believe that there is a guide line within the NCAA that would take safety into consideration before allowing this game to be played??  I'm very old school, so I say game on.....but remember, I said "old school"

Others thoughts??

My morning paper this morning had UWW at Linfield, and Bethel at NCC. There's your credibility going "Blooey." As if it needed another blow.

I saw the O-coordinator position at UST is open.
Did the O-C take a head coaching job somewhere else?
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I have no sources or any inside info. But I'm not taking anything to the bank. I'd actually be surprised to see him leave, even if he had applied for it and if he ended up getting offered the job.

But then again...what do I know  :) (in this instance, pretty much nothing!)

Is that the norm to post all of the people that have applied for an open job?  Seems to me that if I were the present employer, I might not be overly thrilled seeing that if applicant didn't inform his present school.

Wow.  This list kind of opens my eyes and reminds me how hard it can be to climb up the coaching ladder.  There are probably lots of great coaches and people on that list, and half of those great coaches will have to coach another 10 years at some cow-poke town to even be considered in the top-10 the next time.

Weather sounds miserable on Saturday.

On the one hand, I like that. On the other, it sucks to go into a game of this magnitude, with a variable like that, without all your bullets. Peterson 'under center' would leave me a lot more confident. No knock on Keefe, just that we've only got a tiny sample size.

Just stinks to lose (or have all signs pointing to it) your MVP. Like 07 all over again. I will say though, this team seems to have a significant degree of mental toughness. So maybe they can overcome the hurdle the 07 squad couldn't and play balls out, who cares about injuries, full speed ahead. Here's to Keefe and Co. being able to do just that!

Keep believing...keep fighting. No better time to be tough, tenacious and tethered. Feel free to channel your inner Wabash v. NCC. Great example of a team rallying behind a backup & pulling off a stunner.

As to the UND job. I had the same thought...that's a lot of men vying for the job. Not all are great resumes, but there are definitely some good ones. If Caruso applies (looks like we'll know either way given ND open books laws) and gets the job it'll say a lot about his ability to interview. And that's not at all meant to be a knock.

RE: The UND Job

The best candidates usually don't post their resume until after they've spoken with UND officials.  The most high profile to post thus far is the former Montana coach and current Weber State OC.

However, as far as Caruso goes it's been widely speculated around Grand Forks that Caruso is on UND's radar and perhaps vice-versa. Mixed emotions from this Grand Forks resident and UND Law/UST alum right now.

I have a lot of great friends that have been very involved with both programs either as players and coaches. Nearly every UND home game I am in my same old seats while simultaneously listening to UST's game on my headphones. (Unless UST plays SJU or at Concordia the same weekend as a UND home game.) That being said, Montana State's d-coordinator is also in the mix I imagine. Lots of fun to speculate.

In watching the Caruso speculation over the last couple of years, I just have one thought to add. Obviously, in the ideal world, keeping a quality coach for 25 years is awesome. However, over the long term, if Coach Caruso is able to get a job that is perceived a step up (I say perceived because, personally, I don't see D2 or even D1 as a step up from D3 necessarily), it is not necessarily a bad thing for STU. While you don't want candidates looking at the job as a mere "stepping stone", the fact that the STU "could" lead to such a move may help STU attract some really good candidates. The long term success will be more about the capability and commitment of the athletic department and the school administration.  They have proven their commitment. They need to show their capability by making another good hire should Caruso leave.

Now, to bring it back to the field. I have delayed my "pick em" choices because of the Bethel-NCC game. For whatever reason, I have this feeling about Bethel which I posted on the WIAC board. What I need to know from you Bethel guys: Can the Royals do this thing??
