UND just filled it's football coaching vacancy. It's not St. Glenn:

Clever.  A Brit at work mentioned this one to me when I showed him the SBNation link:

http://www.lettersofnote.com/2011/02/you-were-of-course-outstanding.html

This guy got a signed letter in response from the football club, cranking the sarcasm up to 11:

Many thanks for your recent application for the Managerial position at Middlesbrough Football Club.

You were of course the outstanding candidate but after careful consideration we decided against your appointment. Quite frankly we were of the opinion that your tenure with us would have been short lived, as your undoubted talent would result in one of the big European Clubs seeking your services.

We consider it a sign of our progress that someone of your status could consider us.

If he wants anyone under the age of 60 56 to hear the message, he should use something other than 'CCO to get it out.

I fixed it, ROR.

How about a simple, anyone not eligible for AARP  ;D 8-) with all due respect to my elders!

AARP starts jamming your mailbox the day you turn 50. Not too many retired people at 50 that I've run into.

retagent

I was one BDB. We've never met, but I feel like we know each other.

Of course, I still do some work 13 years after that "retirement".

Don't you have minions that do your work for you while you just swim in your piles of money like Scrooge McDuck?  ;D

Congrats!  Now use your power wisely (as in smite U$T folks as often as possible).

Other than a previous mention on this board? Not much -- I don't think anyone mentioned details.

I checked out Charley's column and answered my own question.

Steve Fritz, the athletics director at Division III University of St. Thomas, hears the rumors that Division I North Dakota State and North Dakota could be interested in Tommies football coach Glenn Caruso.

"We know he's a very hot property, and we're certainly going to try to do everything we can to keep him here," Fritz said Wednesday.

St. Thomas is seeking an offensive coordinator, but Fritz said that has nothing to do with the Caruso rumors.

"This is a new position and hopefully allows (Caruso) him to do some other things within the program," Fritz said.

I think most on this board are aware John Gagliarid will be featured tonight on the ESPN college football awards show. I believe it airs at 6pm CST. According to the Twitterwebs John will also be discussed on ESPN's Outside The Lines program at 3:30pm today. Former UMU coach Larry Kehres will be part of the discussion.

Rube, thanks for the heads up on the Outside the Lines.  Didn't know about it.  Through the magic of the inter webs I now have DirectTV recording the show.

From Gina (Gagliardi) Benson's facebook page:

Months ago ESPN told my dad they were going to present an award to him. He was pretty sad that he felt he couldn't travel there to accept the award. Bill Palmer is a former Tommie and a current friend of my fathers. (SJU fans he is married to Dave Arnold's sister). Bill knew that award meant a lot to my dad so he flew his private jet from California to Minnesota and picked up my dad and our family and flew us to Florida! Riding in this private jet was even more exciting than standing next to Johnny Manziel. Oh and being at Disney World at Christmas time? What a couple of days this will be. The award will be presented live on ESPN today 6-8 pm.

Nancy Gagliardi Little also commented:

It's 84 degrees!!! Oh my!!! We were picked up on the tarmack by ESPN limos. Wow!!

Minor correction.  Outside the Lines is on ESPN2.

I also think Rube should serve some form of penance for misspelling the name of the winningest college football coach.  8-)

You're assuming he's not using an alias....

Actually, I'd think he'd hold out for the 'Bama job once Nick Sa(t)ban leaves for Texas.
