UND just filled it's football coaching vacancy. It's not St. Glenn:

You're assuming he's not using an alias....

Actually, I'd think he'd hold out for the 'Bama job once Nick Sa(t)ban leaves for Texas.

Who is not using an alias, Caruso or Chris McComas?

I think most on this board are aware John Gagliarid will be featured tonight on the ESPN college football awards show. I believe it airs at 6pm CST. According to the Twitterwebs John will also be discussed on ESPN's Outside The Lines program at 3:30pm today. Former UMU coach Larry Kehres will be part of the discussion.

Minor correction.  Outside the Lines is on ESPN2.

I also think Rube should serve some form of penance for misspelling the name of the winningest college football coach.  8-)

I never learned his last name, just always called him John.

That was pretty good by Murph. Haven't seen a Henderson comeback like that since the 1983 Class A girls basketball state champs rallied from 11 down in the section semifinals. (did they?)

You are showing your youthful age...they didn't have sections in 1983...they were called regions back in those days...and I'm not sure Henderson had to come back in the '83 region final.  I'm trying to remember who that was against?  I was in 8th grade then so my memory is a little fuzzy on that.  It might have been Archbishop Brady or maybe Glencoe (before Silver Lake)...you know...one of those BIG Class A schools.

This isn't actually a comeback buts it's kind of fun to listen to Tom Ryther.

Gah, how could I mess up the region/section, especially when I have vivid memories of so many classic old district and region games, played in places like St. James and then old Highland Arena.

Of course the reason I remember anything of the '83 girls tourney is Janesville finished 3rd. Came back from way down in first game, then lost to Lake City in semis. Of course then Henderson beat Lake City. And then we used to go to a lot of MSU games and saw lots of Walters there.

I've watched a lot of old Henderson videos on Youtube. And I don't know what that means.

Capn34

I would say that was a great piece ESPN did in John.  Very niece piece for SJU as well.

stanbob

Agreed.  Great to see espn devote that kind of time to John.
Everyday is payday in paradise.

AO

Wow, did we know ahead of time the effort and time ESPN was going to put into piece?  I can't imagine many future honorees that are as deserving or universally respected.
