A perfect day would go something like this.... Sitting at the counter of a Waffle House near Tuscaloosa, Alabama drinking coffee & reading the paper while listening to the chatter at near by tables of how Nick Saban is the worst coach in the history of football...  ::)

sjusection105, we have one of those perfect days coming up Sunday watching from the warmth of our homes on HDTV the Packers vs. 49ers in -30 to -50 below windchill! And to know those eggheads payed big $$$ to sit outside and freeze.  ;)

It could be cold weather carnage.  8-)

You won't be watching the game if they fail to sell 3,000 more tickets by 4:00 today. The game is on the verge of being blacked out by the NFL:

"If the game against the San Francisco 49ers isn't sold out, there will be a blackout in local TV markets, including Green Bay, the Fox Cities, Milwaukee and Wausau."

However, I'm sure the Packers (or maybe their sponsors) will purchase the remaining tickets to avoid this.

I bet the television and radio stations buy the remaining tickets.

Yep...looks like the 100,000+ fans on their season ticket waiting list won't be stepping up to buy some. I thought true Packers fans didn't mind the cold ::)   ;)

I wouldn't be so sure '02.  As of 9am this morning fewer than 1000 tickets remain.  That's 4,000+ that have been purchased since yesterday morning at 11am when 5000 were unsold.

I know...I'm just still bitter after last week.  >:(

in other weather related news, our favorite schools are all over the "coldest colleges in country rankings".
The ranking is based on "student reviews of weather on campus, average high and low temperatures during summer and winter, and average summer and winter precipitation amounts,
1. Minnesota State U., Moorhead, MN
2. Concordia College, Moorhead, MN
3. College of St. Benedict, Collegeville, MN. (There's no mention of St. John's University, its adjacent partner)
4. St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN.
5. University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire
6. Carleton College, Northfield, MN
7. University of Northwestern (formerly Northwestern College), St. Paul
8. Macalester College, St. Paul
9. University of Minnesota, Twin Cities
10. Minnesota State University, Mankato

What about any school in Alaska? North Dakota? Montana? The Upper Peninsula of Michigan?

I bet Bench will testify to how cold the University of North Dakota can be--certainly it is colder than Luther College (#14 on this list).

Here is a blurb about the FCS Championship today - NDSU vs Towson.

As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Looks like a stampede for the Bison of NDSU.

That game wasn't even close.

The NFL games were far more exciting today, and I hate giving the NFL that kind of credit...

What's this I hear about corporate sponsors needing to buy up seats to avoid a local blackout in Green Bay?

Are Packers fans getting soft?

These certainly aren't the fans of the late 1960s.

The field was terrible- they were kicking up divots the size of Texas. The Bison were going to win regardless, but I wonder if field conditions had an impact on the score. Towson seemed to be in self destruct mode for the get go,something like 6 penalties in the 1st quarter alone!

Nobody who had season tickets sent in for their playoff tickets since they went out near the end of November when they were getting blown out by the Lions. Minnesota should mandate an open air stadium though for the Vikings, see how you guys like it then when it's -19+ out there.  ;)

Vikings fans are about as soft as they come when it comes to weather.

The showing for the Bears game after the dome collapsed at TCF Bank Stadium was terrible (on Monday Night no less!) Outdoor Vikings football in Minnesota was such a novelty that nostalgic fans should have jumped all over tickets for that game.

I just watched Red Dog again and I reckon it's the saddest dog movie ever made. Even worse than Old Yeller.  It toys with your emotions in an almost criminal fashion. Highly recommended.

Plop yourself on the couch with man's best friend and watch Hachi.  It's available on Netflix and I believe it was never released in the states.  The movie is based on the life of a Japanese professor and his dog (an Akita) names Hachiko.  If you consider yourself a never let them see you cry tough guy you might want to watch this on your own.
