Oz, thanks for the Hawthorn scarf, getting a pretty good workout in right now as well as a lot positive comments.

No worries, stanbob. I'm always glad to spread the fever.

I hope everyone is staying warm and indoors. The family and I are on a vacation to warmer climes but I'll stay quiet about it until the cold spell snaps.

What's this I hear about corporate sponsors needing to buy up seats to avoid a local blackout in Green Bay?

Are Packers fans getting soft?

These certainly aren't the fans of the late 1960s.

Ice fishing contests in the area are draining attendance.

Wow, that was one heck of a National Championship game.

The Rose Bowl has a habit of putting on some great showdowns for the title.

I just watched Red Dog again and I reckon it's the saddest dog movie ever made. Even worse than Old Yeller.  It toys with your emotions in an almost criminal fashion. Highly recommended.

Let's not forget Turner & Hooch.

Plop yourself on the couch with man's best friend and watch Hachi.  It's available on Netflix and I believe it was never released in the states.  The movie is based on the life of a Japanese professor and his dog (an Akita) names HachikoIf you consider yourself a never let them see you cry tough guy you might want to watch this on your own.

I would say the same about My Dog Skip.

Just wait, I'm sure things will continue to get more and more ridiculous.

There will be some knucklehead school administrator that will attempt to do something like this with field turf:

I think those fields ruin the atmosphere of football. Call me an old codger if you must but I think they murder the gridiron spirit.

And as for the diamond backs, I hope they never win another game.

Thanx Faunch, the missus and I sat down and watched this last night whilst watching and waiting for word as our children wandered home after the holidays. Everyone arrived safe and sound, now back to the grind. Definitely a thumbs up on the flick.

Actually, Diamond Ranch Academy, home of the Diamondbacks, is a residential treament center and boarding school for troubled teens.

I wish the youth attending and participating nothing BUT success.

So the current mock drafts are showing Manzel going to the Viks in the first round.  As you are a well respected group, I would like your take on this move.

Peace out.

I pray that the draft experts are wrong.  I don't think he will be a top tier NFL QB.  I also suspect there will always be some kind of side show with him that takes the focus off football.

I think he'll be gone by 8, but the Vikes might try to trade up for him.  He looks more mobile and accurate than Bridgewater, and I really doubt his immaturity will transform into domestic violence or drunk driving, of which the Vikings have recent experience with.
