The only thing I've ever seen that comes close to the Tommie/Johnnie game is back:

http://www.grandforksherald.com/content/updated-und-ndsu-play-2015-2019-ending-12-year-hiatus

Went to this game every year as a kid, sometimes twice if the played each other in the playoffs. So awesome. Nickel Trophy won't be up for grabs and NDSU gets both games at home, but it's a start.

Best part about video? Confirmation of what we've heard all these years on SJU radio broadcasts: Nobody -- nobody -- gets screwed by more bad calls than St. John's. Although I'm not sure my eyes will be able to handle witnessing the blatant unfairness.

Don't understand why they wouldn't put the Nickel back up for grabs.  Sure it's got a picture of a Native American on one side, but it's not like the team formerly known as Sioux is going to win.

Gravitating away from Native American imagery is number 1. I'd say the fact that they are in different conferences and won't play every year is number 2.

A few state legislators introduced a bill a few years back requiring the two schools to play in football, but it never made it out of subcommittee. This is twelve years of old men who never played football for either school wagging their nethers at one another finally being put to rest. The posturing by Joe Chapman (former NDSU pres) and Gene Taylor (former NDSU AD) over something the current Athletic Department at UND had nothing to do with was frustrating.

By no means am I saying NDSU didn't have a right to be pissed. It was like UND, NDSU, USD and SDSU were all standing at the edge of the dock saying "1,2,3, JUMP!" and NDSU and SDSU jumped and USD and UND flailed their arms and said, "We're not ready yet." Kind of screwed NDSU and SDSU out of travel partners and made it harder to find a conference for everyone. That said, new AD, new crop of students, new administrators. There was no need to punish the entire state for a decade and a half. Of course there are some at NDSU who now think they are a Big 10 team or something, thus they're too good for UND...as they prepare for a road trip to Weber State.

Anyway, how 'bout them Cobbers!

I like the idea of the rivalry, but from my perspective of becoming a Bison fan in 2010, they didn't seem to miss the Sioux too much.  The die hard Bison fans I met didn't feel "punished for a decade".   They chanted "Sioux Suck" after they brought the first national championship home, but that seems to have died down now.

Which is probably why Chris Klieman (who went 3 - 7 as head coach of the Loras Duhawks) sounded so defeated at the press conference today. If he loses a squeaker to SDSU in a regular season game and still makes the playoffs, he'll probably be forgiven. If he loses to UND just two years removed from a 3 - 8 season, where they had won a National Championship, he'll be ran out of town. There will be a regression. Klieman is no Craig Bohl and he knows it. Bubba Schweigert is getting brand new facilities and knows how to recruit. Bubba was the architect of national championship teams at both UND and Minnesota-Duluth. He knows what he's doing.

NDSU has very little to gain from these two games.

Any chance Ramler would have brought a brother or sister onto the staff at SJU?

1.) It's hard to say if Kurt would have approached one the the brothers or CSB sisters to be on staff. If he needed staff & didn't have the budget, there is a possibility.
2.)She has a coaching background and I am speculating that this is a non-paid staff position.
3.)Remember that CSS has no home field  (home games at Public Schools Stadium, a high school field) and budget is very possibly limited,so why not look to one of the sisters for help as an additional support staff.

Does anyone know if CSS has a timeframe to bring football on campus?
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Two questions:  where is the MIAC football coaches' 2014 poll on who finishes where? Why did SJU not continue the series w/ UWRF? UWRF A.D. tried to get a continuation, he told me, but SJU would not do it.
