You might recognize a few people mentioned in this article:

http://www.sctimes.com/story/sports/college/2014/09/06/deland-column-tailgate-tradition-back-st-johns/15223827/

QuoteSt. John's also is technically a dry campus, Brother Willie's Pub notwithstanding. But unlike SCSU, the alcohol ban isn't strictly enforced at SJU tailgate lots.

Since when is SJU a dry campus?  We used to be able to have keg parties in Flynn Town so long as they were registered and not too many were going on that evening.

A tradition unrivaled...

After a bit of research, I don't see anything that would lead me to believe that SJU is a dry campus, so either DeLand's source was wrong or was misquoted.

SJU Student Life Alcohol Policies

Quote
7.  Individuals hosting or present at an event with alcohol in campus houses or apartments are not allowed to charge (directly or indirectly), invite donations or collect money.
8.  Events with alcohol in campus houses or apartments are limited to Friday and Saturday nights and must be concluded by 1:00 a.m.
9.  Events with alcohol in campus houses or apartments are limited to one 8-gallon keg (or equivalent) per night/per event.

SJU became a dry campus in 2003, when school elders watched in horror as one of their graduates--instead of giving himself an online moniker that represented his four years in Collegeville, something like Blood McNally or Ryan or Touchdown Abbey--transformed himself from a top student and football player into an Internet character named after the mascot of a fictional beer company.

I hear St. Joe is a "dry municipality" as well.

I also have some oceanfront property for sale in Wyoming.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

Duffman--RF, on paper, should have been a lot more competitive, and of course SJU had something to do with that. I heard the SJU coach praising Kusilek in pre-game comments, but he had the WORST game he's ever had, at any level, I would guess. He had four turnovers himself, 3 of them in the first half, if memory serves. I can't explain it. He's a great kid, with a 3.9 gpa in chemistry and plans for medical school. Last season he was voted most valuable player. I just hope he's resilient. Of course, he wasn't the only one with a sub par performance. All in all, it was a very disheartening experience for the team and its fans--but a great day and venue to watch a football game. Best wishes for a great season and a win vs. EC. I picked you on the WIAC pickem board. Hope that doesn't jinx you ;D

Maybe SJU is that good, but I think RF will struggle this year, again.

Congrats to the Johnnies for jumping into the "other teams receiving votes" in the Top 25 poll...right ahead of Concordia. Because...

...got nuthin'

That means the Johnnies are the... (one, two, three...)... 31st ranked team in DIII!  Good job Johnnies.

I just looked through Frank's SC Times chat from yesterday, and I have to give him credit because I would have given up long ago.  It's about a 90:10 mixture of idiotic questions/comments:decency.  I think I am done reading it for good, this time.

Hah!  You won by 19 against a team you struggled against last year and apparently every unit besides the running backs struggled.  The secondary had 3 picks and only gave up 2 passing 1st downs and 1 td and they were still a big weakness.  Glad to see a few down years haven't lowered expectations.
