"Why did Martin look like crap?"

Uh, they were picking up 6 yards per carry on the ground.  Why would you throw the ball?

Why not establish a power run game week one...ball control like that will win a lot of games.
And SJU only showed one facet of their offense....opponents the next few opponents have to scheme to stop the run.  Should open up opportunities in the passing game the next couple of weeks.

Preaching to the choir, Faunch.  I guess the majority of the SC Times readership doesn't get that.

I was sitting next to an older guy visiting from Iowa and he watches a lot of IIAC Football. His comments were on how well Martin played.
I guess the S-C TIMES chat guys should look at football in other conferences before calling for a Freshman to come in and "save" a team that is 1-0 and controlled the ball for 44:10....... like you said Duff, preaching to the choir.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I think that many people, I find myself doing this from time to time, romanticize the past and forget that winning is the point of playing a game.

I also think that people forget this is DIII and not the NFL, where a balanced attack is the only way you can play. Criticism laziness may play a part in that the only thing the Vikings can muster consistently is a ground game, so bash a run program wherever you see it.

I do have to say, though, that I remember saying two or three years ago (or longer?) when SJU had a run heavy season that I found it odd to be backing such a running SJU team. When I went to school and in the early 00's glory years, SJU was an air machine with a passable run capability. Feels odd to see the opposite.

It's a bit odd to me, too.  In a perfect world, SJU'd have the ground game from last Saturday's game and the passing threats of the late '90s-early '00s.  ;D

These folks seem to take time off from Yahoo comment boards for Frank's chats.

How did we miss Camelgate?

Seriously! I can't decide if I should laugh or cry after reading that article. A camel coming to campus (at the 'exorbitant' cost of $500 - someone should let the students know the endowment size of their institution) was a reason for moral and political outrage?!? smh...

I guess they didn't find the original commercials funny either? Well, I sure did! But now I'm gonna go cancel my Geico policy, because, well, they're obviously racist. I mean look at the demeaning way they have those white guys playing their instruments. Clearly insinuates we're all white trash crackers, fresh from the trailer parks of Appalachia  8-)

Tommie the Tomcat in trouble again.

The irony of the Tommie mascot being a liberal is pretty damn funny  ;D

HA! As they say - there is no such thing as bad PR! :o ::) A sad day to be a tommie! :-[

I believe Camelgate is the definition of a "first world problem". 8-)
