And the news just keeps getting worse for Adrian Peterson:

Report: Adrian Peterson accused of injuring another son

Sorry to disappoint but I don't think AP is a very good dad.
This just in...I have two children by my only wife.  I have never laid a hand or switch on any of them.

Ok, invite controversy: Does he lose his job over it?  I reckon no.  The NFL is here to play football, or are they here to be a social conscience?  Sure, he loses endorsements.  Sure, he loses value in negotiating.  I dunno.  If he gets convicted and misses commitments due to jail time or whatever, sure - lose your job.

Anyway, I'm torn.  On the one hand this feels like a feverish witch hunt, but on the other hand it's a show of character that no one would reasonably endorse.  By not joining the witch hunt, does that mean I endorse the action? I don't think it does so I go for not fired.  I think the stigma and pariah status he assumes will be punishment enough, plus whatever sentence the court hands out (assuming he's convicted, of course).

I think we,on this board, are reasonably intelligent human beings and realize that public figures make poor role models/heros. Sports stars, politicians, entertainment figures, numerous religious leaders have disappointed their followers over the centuries. We don't know these people even though they play for "our team" represent our ideals in the political arena or are a good singer or actor. Most (not all) are very flawed human beings. We are better off to enjoy them for the entertainment value, but to be very selective of who we "worship".
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

OK, after a brief vacation, back to the real world.   :-\

I was impressed with the Johnnie result this weekend.  Looks like things are improving behind the Pine Curtain.  I did not expect a Monkey StompTM!   I'm excited for Saturday!  I may have missed it, but has there been an injury update on Martin?

What's up with U$T?  Squeak past UW-EC then destroy UW-LaX...

A tradition unrivaled...

HazzBen has this quote in his signature: "Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are." - John Wooden

I hope that AP can learn from this experience, so that he changes who he is not just what he does or how he does it so as to not get "caught" again.

Way more crisp offensively.

Personally, from listening to the UW-Eau Claire game and watching a feed that was buffering every two seconds last weekend (so my take may be off-base, though I think it's pretty accurate), I just thought Gould did a better job of running the offense than O'Connell did. No frills, just quietly and efficiently moving the ball down the field. There's no doubt who has more talent, and I certainly don't think O'Connell is in danger of losing his job (nor should he be), I just thought, in this particular game, Gould relied less on improvising a potential homerun and more on just making the correct read and throwing a strike.

UST has a good offense, with some nice players running it, sometimes it's just a matter of going with the most simple/obvious choice when you drop back.

Looks like Martin is day-to-day after a concussion against UWEC.
Voshell is out 4-6 weeks minimum after suffering a fractured ulna and radius in his left forearm Saturday.
Matuska is awaiting the results of an MRI.

Dang.  Hard game.  I hope for quick recoveries.

In other news, insanity in home-design prevails.  A concept in a graphic design tool only, thank goodness, but a monstrosity for two reasons, in my opinion:  1, It turns a beautiful coastline into an ugly, selfish scene, and 2, only the insane could live there hanging out like that.

Second game & already two starters out for the season (most likely for Voshell)- this is where depth will be tested. Rob has had an unfortunate injury riddled career at SJU. I wish him well & hopefully if he comes back late in the season, the games mean something....

Benson needs to prepare like he is starting. Every back up needs to prepare like they will start, even though they may not play at all or just a few minutes.

It's Cobber week. Usually no smack talk, just a lot of mutual respect between squads.

It's Preliminary Finals week with the winners through to the Grand Final and the losers out. North Melbourne travel to Sydney to take on the Swans Friday night while Port Adelaide comes to Melbourne to play Hawthorn on Saturday. #'s 2 and 3 will join me at the MCG for the big match.  Hopefully, we can have a weekend double. (I won't ask for a triple.  The Vikings suck.)

My feeble memory tells me that Benson is regarded as a better passer, and Martin brings the added run dimension. Am I remembering correctly?

If so, that might present preparation problems for the Cobbers.
