Hey duff since I am such a "Moron" and none of my Tommy buddy's and long time friend like me any more  ??? just tell me who is going to win Saturday???  It should be an easy bet for you since I am such an idiot...actually you have insulted all the morons out there by including me in that group! " Lighten up Fancis"  ::)

Tommies 32 - St John 21...Tommies win! But don't beat the spread...

You're too conservative. I'm thinking UST 63, SJU 7.

DuffMan

You guys were running this same smack last year, and we all saw how it turned out.  It was refreshing when you slunk back under your rocks, too.  U$T should have won handily, but they choked.  That was last year, I know, but the only comparison we can make this year is with UW-EC.  While the head-to-head might not be worth a hill of beans, it does favor SJU!

U$T should win on Saturday, but the 2014 Johnnies are improved over the 2013 squad, and the vaunted Toms couldn't even knock off that 2013 squad.

Double 0- you are critizing the Fox Valley? Who is in the top ten in the tribune poll-Carey Grove-woops Fox Valley. Where is Mt. Carmel? I think the CCL has some of very good teams in the Chicago Area, that doesn't mean it has all the talent.
Also, why would a D3 school waste their time with a D1 athlete, they should be recruiting the level of talent that will play in D3, guys not able to play at the D1 level.
BTW-the purpose of my earlier post was to compliment STO on their recruiting-doesn't matter what conference the kid is from-they probably have letters going to guys in CCL.

I sure am. The "valley" conference is alright. The "fox" conference is downright awful. Hang your hat on Cary Grove if you'd like-they're a nice program. The CCL, ESCC AND SCC (top to bottom) is not only considerably stronger year after year than the Fox (both valley & fox), but all 3 Catholic conferences have a plethora of similarities with the MIAC schools that make them much more of a target rich environment. I know you understand where I'm coming from. Don't go get all defensive and talk about the few kids that could project well in the MIAC because I know they may be there. The fact is, the ratio is considerably better for finding that kid in the CCL. ESCC or SCC.

I don't think I ever said the CCL has "all the talent", did I? You're grasping at straws.

As for the DI vs DIII recruits, I'll tell you what-you go out and spend your recruiting resources (w/ Johnville or STO) on those DIII guys and we'll concentrate our efforts on the DI/DII scholarship kids that project to most likely be backups or role players and we'll see where the chips fall. You call it "a waste of time" to recruit these kids? Well, I guess that's a matter of perception and we'll just have to agree to disagree.

That's fair. I, for one will admit last year's game was a kick square in the nads-one that I did not anticipate in the slightest. I'm not afraid to be realistic and give credit where credit is due-no excuses. Last year's outcome just serves as further evidence to me that the records/team strengths can generally go out the window when these two squads get together.

Hopefully, Glenn & the boys have short memories and will let that memory server as a motivating factor. I think it will be a tight game this year and agree that it is one that the Tommies SHOULD (it's so refreshing to be able to say this!) win. I'm curious to see how the Ramler loss affects the Johnnie offense. I give him a ton of credit for his game plan last year, which clearly caught us off guard.

On an unrelated note, did anyone else notice that the newly named Archbishop in Chicago, Fr. Blase Cupich is a Tommie? Good stuff!!!

knock it off with this pre-game speculation stuff.  Let's get back to the real topic of the week: Illinois high school conference power rankings.  The Chicago South Siderz league is looking more dangerous than ever!

With the dissolution of the conference system in MN high school football, IL high school conference power rankings will be even more integral to our discussions!

I thought U$T was supposed to be filled with a bunch of elitist cake eaters who spend their days snacking on caviar, sipping Champagne, and attending fancy cocktail parties. Now it appears we occupy more humble surroundings. Maybe the SJU lovefest should pick a trash-talking narrative and stick to it.

We're pretty consistent in playfully pointing out that SJU/CSB is the land of rubes and heifers. Recently we've been able to add "middling football program" to the list of barbs. SJU's win last year was an anomaly (one that admittedly left a bruise), but let's see what happens this Saturday. If UST wins, 2014 will likely be the fifth year in a row of no post-season play for SJU.

I never claimed that there was no caviar and Champagne under the rocks.  What you do in your spare time is up to you, as long as I don't have to hear from you.

Probably, yes.  Could you remind me how U$T did in the playoffs last year?  If U$T wins on Saturday, I'd venture a guess that Concordia and Bethel might present a couple of bumps in the road to that NCAA title that keeps eluding St. Glenn and his minions.

Rev, you meant to say SJU "smoke fest", right?

The smoke fest has quelled considerably with the dose of humble pie that has been being consumed up there as of late. Unfortunately, it is not as applicable as it was 7-8 years ago. I applaud you boys (& girl-bennie) for dialing it back the way you all have!
