BDB, I'm watching the USA Hockey Prospects game. A kid from River Falls, Tommy Novak, got a nice PP goal. You know him? I think he plays with at least one of Eddie Olczyk's sons in the USHL in Cedar Rapds.

Son of BDB and I have not heard of this guy. If he's from River Falls I doubt he played High School hockey there.
I think he was originally a St. Paul kid whose family moved to River Falls.  Then as a sophomore he started crossing the river daily to play at the Academy.  He scored with 6.1 seconds lift to beat Hermantown in the title game which enabled another classic Bruce Plante press conference.    You know he's salty when he introduces his players by zipcode.   https://twitter.com/paraloschicos15/status/439250149034848257

AO with some quality high school hockey info. Well done. +k

I was at that St.Thomas Academy-Hermantown championship game. Hermantown got totally jobbed by the refs at the end and had a good reason to complain.

Audi is a driver's car, not a "look at me, I'm special car". Simple as that.... :D

I'll keep that in mind.  There seems to be an Audi vs. BMW battle going on in Maple Grove.  The Audi Q7 is the choice of many of the soccer moms up here.  I prefer to keep it real with my Toyota and Honda.  ;)

...might be the first one I've missed in a long time. Kind of bummed.

WHAT?!?!  Not even U$T alums want to go back to campus.  :P  Thank God for U$T's sterling global reputation and infinite endowment, or they'd have nothing!

Pink now. Man.

Don't get me wrong. I want to go. It'd just be too reminiscent of that first weekend my freshman year after fall camp broke and the North Dakota guy was asking the suburb guys if he could tagalong to the party.

Yes, thanks for the info.

Rev - although I am normally vehemently against ad hominum attacks, this is sports gab. It is the staple of smack talk. Without, we would be left with logic and reason. C'MON! There's no logic and reason in sports smack. To paraphrase.

I somehow ended up with this rescue dog that has mange so I can't drop it off at a kennel...

Bring the mangy dog to the game and dress it up in a (insert Tommie / Johnnie depending on preference) shirt

Sit it in the student section; it'll fit right in.

In all seriousness, I'd stay away from Audi unless you plan to regularly trade in before the warranty expires. Twice we've had an Audi develop sensor issues just out of warranty. The first time we took the hit for a $3K charge and the second time it was a $2.5K charge, which they covered because some of the issues started while it was in warranty. We have friends who've also experienced major issues with Audis just out of warranty. That being said, maybe Audis, Beamers, Porsches, etc. are all the same in this regard. I think our next vehicle will be a Toyota/Honda/Hyundai.

Sabres Honor the 1994 State Title Team, Ailing Former Coach

Of interest because Dean Taylor coached at SJU for a number of years after he hung it up at Sartell, as well as a number of the guys from this team had stellar careers as Johnnies (and elsewhere).

Dean's gone through some awful health issues, but he is more upbeat than 99% of people.  He and his wife, Kathy, are amazing people.  I was happy to chat with him last week at SJU because I hadn't seen him in a year or two!

It is far more likely that you'd see me driving this than an Audi.

Having been involved with German cars for over 20 years this is a pretty true statement. But you need to understand these vehicle are not simply transportation. If you are expecting to simply change oil, put in gas & change tires, then you should not own a German vehicle. As a friend of mine likes to say, "nobody needs a Porsche, but they sure are fun."

The Genesis is Hyundai's answer to "we don't just build throw away cars"- it's nice, but car snobs would never buy one. Hyundai has made tremendous styling & quality improvements over the last decade by stealing (everybody does it) talent away from other Asian as well as European manufactures.

Apparently, the rivalry is now being referred to on the corner of Cretin and Summit as the "TOJO Rivalry."
