Mr.MIAC

As much as it pains me so say, St. John's played a great game today. I hold no animosity and with all the ribbing, I hope we can embrace each other in brotherly love.

No worries, Rev.  Until next year.

Here's a YouTube of the complete Grand Final. The first quarter is the best, when the game is still a contest.  The other three quarters are a clinic in near perfect high pressure, high speed football so it's interesting to watch from that perspective.  It's such a dominant performance that the game is too unbalanced to be frank.

Predictions:

BU to 14th
UST to 15th
CON to 23rd
SJU to 25th

Pretty good, Oz.
I didn't think St. Thomas would fall as far as they did. I would've put 'em somewhere in the mid- to late-teens.

The news from the corner of Cretin and Summit:

"... one DWI arrest was made, and officers responded to 11 intoxicated people. The arrest occurred after a St. Thomas student rear-ended a St. John's student's vehicle on Cretin Avenue..."

"[Michael Barrett, UST Public Safety associate director] also stressed the rowdy behavior of some St. Thomas students who threw beer cans around campus and disrespected the school, saying this year's crowd was worse than previous years."

lose to an unranked team and you're going to drop more than five or six spots. I think voters wanted to rank SJU ahead of UST. So a big drop was in order.

...that was my thinking about where UST current sits.

A couple thoughts regarding the SJU/U$T game yesterday:
As an SJU supporter I really believe yesterday's win trumps the victory last year.  Looking back three or four years ago...many people believed the Johnnie magic was gone and the program would be relegated to a middle of the pack MIAC team for a number of years if not forever.
A lot of people thought last year's win was a fluke and the Johnnies dodged a bullet when the field goal went wide left.
Yesterday's win was a statement that Coach Fasching and his staff have things well in hand and are progressing in the right direction.  I'm not ready to crown the Johnnies as a conference title contender....they could easily finish up the season with 3  or more losses.

While walking the dog this afternoon I ran into a friend that is a Tommie alum ...he was wearing purple and I wearing red.  We chatted for a bit and then discussed the game...his observation was that Tommies looked slower then they've been in recent years.  I'm wondering it that's the case or if the Johnnies were the faster and more athletic team?

They definitely didn't have the speed on defense that we've been accustomed to seeing.

I also thought the big o-line for U$T was kind of slow SJU's defensive speed gave them trouble at times.

You may not need to play us this year, but next year for sure.
