I feel like I'm back in the dark ages. I used to look for the JOHNNIE score in the Sunday paper, then I had many years enjoying VOJ on my computer. This year I could kind of watch and hear the game on Stretch. Yesterday I got nothing. For some reason my various devices, computer or tablets can't get the radio station(s) and only (wait) on Stretch. It didn't matter whether I tried SJU, Augsburg or D3 links. -- same thing. Sure hope they get something better next year. :(

I agree, 57, that a new service next year would be nice.  I have yet to get Stretch to work on the iPad during a game.  Replays fine, live events not.

For all the anticipation of live video, the result has been really disappointing.
I also use an iPad. Up to yesterday I eventually got the game or part of the game but yesterday nothing but wait. I downloaded ios8 on my iPad and that was a big mistake. Still have ios7 on Mrs. 57 iPad mini but neither worked yesterday. +k.   ;)
I personally like the mini better than the iPad.

the game you actually went to worked perfectly on my iPad.
I wonder if stretch changing their website platform made things worse this season.

Zip are you going to bring some authentic Chicago Polish sausages for the tailgate party Saturday? They are a little slice of heaven.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Yes-the Polish will be there-bringing them on the plane, so as long as TSA doesn't decide they want them.

All right then – now that things are a little clearer through nine weeks of the season, what's left?

Well, Bethel is still in control having dispatched Gustavus. If they win next week against the Johnnies up in Collegeville and then at home against Augsburg they are the undisputed champs.

If Bethel loses the game next week against the Johnnies, then those teams would be co-champs and the Johnnies would get the nod to represent the MIAC as the AQ because of head-to-head results, provided they both win their respective last games of the season.

Fallout from a Bethel win: there could be as many as three teams in second place all with two losses. Those teams' SOS and RR numbers would determine who would be the next best to represent the MIAC in the Pool C bidding because they will all have lost to Bethel and to each other in round-robin fashion. This is where playing non-conference teams that also beat up teams in their home conference help a team out at the end of the season.

Fallout from a St. John's win: Bethel could still be the number two team in the conference, provided they do not lose to Augsburg in the last week. But that loss to Wartburg puts them in with the rest of the MIAC teams as a two loss team at the national level. I have a hunch that their SOS and RR will put them firmly in place at the top of the Pool C nominations in the West Region.

With Concordia dropping the game to St. Thomas, there are currently three teams with two losses, the two that played and Gustavus. Gustavus plays Concordia this coming week so one of them will become a three loss team. St. Thomas plays Carleton, so they are not in much danger of dropping a third game this week. If Concordia wins, then they sit on their hands for two weeks, as their bye is the last week in the season this year. Then if Bethel defeats St. John's you would have these three 2 loss teams going into the last week: St. John's, St. Thomas and Gustavus or Concordia. And look at that, If Gustavus wins this week up in Moorehead, then they and St. Thomas would play in the final week to determine who shares second place with the Johnnies and who takes a third loss. If Gustavus loses to the Cobbers, and both the Tommies and Johnnies win the last week, there would be a three way tie for second in the MIAC. In my mind, this is highly probable.

So with that introduction let's take a look at the MIAC games this coming Saturday.

St. Olaf has the bye this week and they finish out their season the following week by hosting St. John's.

Hamline at Augsburg is the only game this week that does not have post-season implications attached to it. Hamline picked up their first conference win last week by overtaking the Oles. They have played St. Thomas and Bethel tough at the beginning of those games and if they can hang with it for a full 60 minutes they might be able to pull a mild upset in beating the Auggies.

St. Thomas goes down to Northfield to take on the Carleton Knights, a team struggling throughout the year. My guess is that Caruso will play a lot of second and third team guys so they will get plenty of snaps this week and the Tommies will coast to a victory.

Gustavus at Concordia Moorhead is an interesting game from a couple of aspects in that they both lost games last week that they might have won had things gone a little differently. The other aspect is that they are both fighting to stay one of the remaining two loss teams and a chance at being tied for second place in the conference. As I shared earlier, if the Cobbers win, they're done until Sunday night November 16, when the final bracket is released to see if their loss last week cost them a chance for post-season play.

Lastly, we have the game of the week in the conference as Bethel travels up to the campus of St. John's in a winner-takes-all game for the conference championship (provided they both win their last games of the season). The long term weather forecast is looking better than it did this morning in that the snow and precipitation are now going to be on Friday. So the field is going to be cold and damp, it is supposed to be partly cloudy, the temps will struggle to get into the upper 30's with winds out of the NW gusting up to 20 mph. Yish. I think even with the Royals getting dinged up this past week down in St. Peter they have the edge in this game. But anything can happen on any given Saturday and this could be one of those games that will be remembered down through the years because of the adversity that the winning team had to prevail against. I'm planning on being at this game and look forward to seeing all of you there.

Just want to point out that if BU beats SJU this week, BU will be the undisputed MIAC champs whether they beat Augsburg or not as everyone else would have at least 2 losses.

You are correct sir! I'm still in denial of the fact that Concordia lost this past week.  ;)

Are you flying Friday?

It's highly unlikely you can carry them on.
Check with the airline if you can check them in a styrofoam cooler, if not contact your local UPS Store, then send them in a styrofoam packed with ice to a UPS Store in St. Cloud & pick them up on your way to Collegeville. Or ship them directly to Veek.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

The top 25 is out and the MIAC has three in.  BU Moves up to 10, SJU up one spot to 18 and UST crawls in to 24th. That's a bit generous, I think, but judges are judges.

Mr. Ypsi

I'm currently rereading the magnificent biography of Franklin Roosevelt by Carleton alum Conrad Black.  I'm currently on page 964, meaning only 170 pages to go (did I mention that it is a B-I-I-I-G book?)

Spoiler alert:  the New Deal greatly alleviated the Great Depression, but it took the buildup to WWII to cure it completely.  And, the Allies are winning the war.

Oh, and Hitler is NOT a nice person.  Neither is Stalin.  Neither is Hirohito.

OK, I warned you with the spoiler alert. ;)

d-train

I'll give you a topic: the New Deal was neither new nor a deal. Discuss.  ;)
