Fasch has been purposely keeping the passing game under wraps in order to slay the Royals.

So is Martin the QB going to be throwing or Bungum the WR/RB throwing out of the I-formation. You know he (Bungum) was the St. Cloud Time Area Player of the Year as a QB at Paynesville H.S.
Come to think of it there are 3 former H.S. QB's (All-Conference) in the offensive starting line up, so you never know who will be throwing to who..... Johnnie Magic  ;D
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I reckon Duffman is onto something here. I was thinking the same thing. Lots of play action passes to the flat for short gains.

Remember Tom Engwall's TD pass circa 2002?  SJU doesn't even need a QB for success in the air!

Heck, just plug in a TE. TE & QB are pretty much the same at SJU. SJU has been making TEs out of QBs & vice versa for the past 60 years or so......

For those who don't know who Tom Engwall is,he play offensive tackle for the Johnnies. He also threw javelin on the Track & Field squad. Tom went to grad school at the University of Texas and had a year of eligibility remaining in track,so he walked on for the Longhorns Track & Field squad. He won the Big 12 Championship and was eligible for Olympic trials because of the Big 12 win. Tom is quite a character...larger than life you might say, he was listed at 6'7" 275lbs.

Yeah, but what's he ever really accomplished?

Oh, I remember Tom. He hadn't given up a sack all year. Until he played against Jon Foss and surrendered 3 in one game. But Foss was a bit of a freak with his speed rush off the edge (there was a reason he led D3 in sacks that year).

He was a very good athlete, though. I remember Kirchoff telling the story about the javelin. For some reason I think Tom roomed with Scotty's brother...or maybe he was a Hutch kid  ???

And Lindsay Whalen schooled them both in driveway basketball.

Engwall is great at throwing stuff. He was an All-American javelin thrower at SJU in 2003. He went on to throw jav at the University of Texas-Austin with his extra year of eligibility (I think because he went abroad one spring at SJU), and won the Big XII Championship in 2004. Last I checked, he had competed in the U.S. T&F Championships in 2010.

Note: I did not see Section's bio on Engwall. I guess it pays to read all the way down the page prior to posting...

My sources tell me the J's have been practicing the quad option for a few weeks.  Sura and Bungham in the backfield at the same time.   Jeff Norman sightings in C'ville more than once add credibility.

Funny story involving Tom.  John used to use Tom to throw the ball when we worked on kick coverage because he could throw the ball farther than any of our kickers could kick it.  :o

He went on to throw jav at the University of Texas-Austin with his extra year of eligibility (I think because he went abroad one spring at SJU), and won the Big XII Championship in 2004.

Also, I don't believe he'd ever thrown a javelin prior to his sophomore year at SJU.
