This has been posted a couple of times previously.  Today is the 25th anniversary of Burnsie's famous rant.  I think that deserves posting again.  I know I get a kick out of it every time I see it.

I don't get this whole tied thing. I mean, I get it, I just don't like it. Make a decision...it's kinda your whole purpose for being on the committee!  ::)

Well, always nice to be re-elected, especially when you don't have an opponent! ;D Another six years on the bench.
I would like to invite Bethel fans to the Stiftungsfestivities tailgate party this Saturday morning before the game. We are located in the parking lot above the scoreboard end of the field. We usually get the grill going about 11:00 a.m. and start consuming adult beverages before that. Bring a culinary delight along if you like.

Yeah, I agree.  The ties seem like sort of a cop-out...most of the teams that are in the ties have a big game on tap that will presumably be used to break the tie...in the North rankings, I am guessing that Wabash beating Wittenberg would propel them ahead of Wheaton, leaving the North order as:

1. Mount
2. JCU (at least for next week)
3. Wabash
4. Wheaton
5. Wittenberg

whereas a Wittenberg win over Wabash would probably yield....

1. Mount
2. JCU (at least for next week)
3. Wheaton
4. Wittenberg
5. Wabash

but it just seems like an excuse to not have to pick between the teams for another week or two.  Lazy.

Likewise, in the West, I am guessing that a SJU win over Bethel would put the Johnnies up at #3 or #4...it would be interesting to see where Bethel got slotted in that scenario.  Would they get dropped behind Linfield?  Behind Chapman?  Would they drop all the way to the UWP-UWO winner?
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

I admit that I skipped the back of the ballot.   You only took 99.25% of my precinct after 6 people went with the always tough Judge Writein.

Yeah, I'm hoping we don't find out where Bethel would be slotted...shocker, I know!  ;D But it'll be interesting to see where they slot whoever loses Saturday.

Definitely looks like a chance for some 2 loss teams to get in via Pool C this year. Anytime 2 loss teams are in play, debate gets ramped up. Fun stuff...

I would guess that the tie at #5 is a result of numers assigned to where they are ranked by voters. I seriously doubt that anyone rated two teams in a tie.

For example if all voters had UWW at #1, which is worth 10 points, they would have 100 total points. if half rated Bethel at #2 with Wartburg at #3, and those who had Wart at #3 had Bethel at #2 they would each have 95 points and be tied for 2nd. Hardly a cop out, just an actuality of having the same number of awarded points.

That's assuming the committee votes on the ranking and doesn't discuss it's way to a consensus ranking. I know in the past they've done the latter, not sure about this years crew. Or if the rules have changed requiring a vote now...

Red, thanx for the invite. Not sure I'll be up there in time to enjoy the festivities - I'll be lucky to get there in time to find a seat for kick-off because of some other responsibilities I need to attend to in the morning. I'm really hoping the officiating crew does a good job so that both teams can show off what they are capable of. It's going to be a cold and windy day for playing and watching a football game.

Good luck to the Johnnie faithful.

Do we have an established record for the earliest complaint about the refs?   :D
