Just don't give us the crew(s) that either team had versus GAC!  :P

How far out does the MIAC assign crews? And is their in season evaluation to ensure the best crews are being sent to the best games? I sure hope so, but I'm not holding my breath!

Bethel does not want the SJU/AUG crew. Based on last week the refs would probably want to favor SJU but would be confused with Bethel on the other sideline and too intimidated to call anything.  :-X

Yeah my bad. The refs last week were favoring SJU on a few calls and I have seen it with UST/AUG as well. They favor the "Marquee" team, call the "ticky-tack" penalties on AUG but somehow turn their head when SJU/UST does something similar or worse. So with two "Marquee" MIAC teams (Bethel/SJU) playing each other the refs will be too confused and intimidated to call anything. Heavy sarcasm but it sure seems to be true.

I went to high school with a guy that went to Augsburg. I will try to interpret.

They were a bad officiating crew and neither team felt good about them. They would blow a call, then on the next play they would try to even things out & that made even less sense than the blow call before.

Does that sum it up Old Auggie  ;)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Yes that sums it up. Seems like the refs just can't wait to call penalties on the Auggies. A premeditated act if you ask me and that flag must be burning a hole in their pocket. Last year Caruso was basically campaigning the refs to call penalties and it worked. You should have seen the flags fly after he started that series of rants. Last week I did not see a rant from the SJU sideline but they didn't need to rant; the refs threw flags anyway. How could the guys in the White Hats (SJU) possibly do anything wrong?!?!  ;) Glad I could stir the Pot a little.

So, Scott running his mouth at a ref and getting flagged for it is somehow SJU's fault?  Maybe that made them a little flag-happy.  I thought the reffing left something to be desired, but I wouldn't have seen it as one-sided.

UST #123 and SJU #189.  My teaching salary is lowering the mean for SJU, however I do enjoy June, July, and August immensely!

PLU looks pretty good on that list.  Linfield not so much...ha!

The young man Mr. Scott might have decided that enough is enough and it was time to let the ref hear his frustrations. Maybe the ref was not calling SJU for some "personal fouls" if you know what I mean. Young man was tired there at the end and if the SJU defense got a shot at him I'm sure they gave him something extra for the effort. Hard for you and I to see that play from the other side of the field. How about Sonnenfeld streaking down the field and the corner decides to bump him while the ball is in the air? No Flag. Right in front of the SJU bench. How could mr. referee possibly call that?.......Answer: he was staring in to the belly of the SJU beast. No call.

There was a link down in the comments to a survey near and dear to my heart, ROI of a college education taking into account the costs and opportunity costs of attending school.  I don't know how well they did their work, but it's a question I'm interested in.  Some highlights:

School      20-yr ROI
UST          7.1%
SJU          10.1%
GAC         6.0%
AUG         8.0%
STO         6.4%
CON        5.6%
BU           7.7%
CSB         6.8%
CC           7.6%
MAC         9.0%
PLU         7.4%
LIN          7.5%
SCSU      9.4%
UofM       11.1%

So, you tend to do better income-wise over the course of your career if you go to school.  If you borrowed $100k for dividend paying shares, however, at a modest 5% yield, then you would get a 15% ROI over that same 20 years.  Despite this argument, there isn't a chance in hell (according to Mrs Oz) that our girls are not going to university.  Our kids are from Lake Wobegone and all well above average.  They'll beat the market.

By the way, the cost of borrowing money is not considered in either equation so it balances out for comparison purposes.

Also, it pays to have the taxpayer subsidize your college education.  Makes the ROI better from your perspective.

We'll just have to agree to disagree, then, OA.  Your maroon goggles and my red goggles will never see the same thing.
