Wow, great win for SJU today. Returning to glory.

Congrats to the Johnnies for a well played game - the better team definitely won today! I did make it for the kick-off with about 4 and a half minutes to spare so I got to see the whole game. I'll never complain again about getting in or out of Bethel's campus after the traffic snarl in Collegeville today. Luckily, I was able to get on the shuttle in decent time in both directions - man, there are a lot of people that come out to the game. It's great to see the fan support.

Not that it would have changed the outcome of the game, and maybe I don't know a rule exactly like I think I do, but on at least two occasions when Peterson on a keeper ran out of bounds the clock kept running. There were a large number of us in the stands that were wondering what was going on. Any one want to comment with clarification?

Hopefully both squads can win out next week to share the conference championship this year and represent the MIAC well in the play-offs.

SJU set the tone with the goal line stand and subsequent TD!

Yep, I agree that was big!

I know that coach J had a lot of confidence in his oline, but coming away empty handed after getting all the way to the doorstep is tough on morale.  Obviously, hindsight is 20/20....

I asked Kilted Rat a couple years ago if onearmedscot really had one arm.

Kilted Rat replied "No, he is fully armed."

Woo-eee, that was a fun one in Collegeville!  SJU is coming into their own.  They played very good football today.  My signature line (which I added last year) may be becoming a reality!

I see that CSS is 10-0...I don't claim to be a playoff setup guru, but I would assume there is at least a chance that Ramler will be bringing his Saints to SJU for a playoff matchup?

Interesting backstory potential, but CSS likely won't be anything more than the annual UMAC sacrificial lamb.

Beyond surprised by what happened in Collegeville today.  Defense is obviously the real deal and the running game might be one of the best in country.
Gary, Jimmy, Novak/Haugan, and Dumonceaux have put together something really special in less than two years.  I will go on record saying that Jimmy Gagliardi deserves a ton of credit for the success of the Jays this year.  Offense is averaging over 31 points a game compared to 19 last year.  And to hold Bethel to 8 points...Wow!!!  Really wish I could have been there today but needed to watch my brother coach and nephew play a 9-man quarterfinal today.

Yes, it was a great game.  The team was really tuned in.

Here's a good post game interview with Gary Fasching from the d3football guys. http://youtu.be/X78yPhoe8d8

Wowzer, U$T beat up on Carleton 83-7.

Talk about letting out some frustration.

I wonder how long the starters played given that a huge, eye-catching thrashing of underpowered competition is about the only chance UST has for post season action...

Being on the road & having the diminished numbers that make up a travel squad may give the Tommies cover on this. I would be interested (not so interested that I would actually look at the box score) to see if after being up by 21 did the Toms throw the ball?
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I took a look at the box. Hard to say anything too untoward. The backups did throw a few passes but I can live with that. It was 49-0 by halftime and it looks like backups played the entire second half (at least on offense).
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

Backup quarterbacks threw 13 times, completed 7, one of which was for a 37-yard touchdown.
I'm not thinking that's real out-of-line.
