I saw a couple of guys singing um ya ya heading down 35 with what looked the snow makers from Buck Hill on the trailer.  Guaranteed blizzard on Saturday.

Gig Harbor Cat

Just sending props out to St John's.  Nice W boys. Great to see you back in the hunt.  See you down the road.

GHC  out !!

SW winds at 8 mph

Oles are giving up an average of 196 yards on the ground per game.
Johnnies are averaging 190 yards rushing per game and have ran for over 250 against both Augsburg and Carleton.

They better call out all the Freshmen to shovel what snow they received today off the playing surface. Maybe a rotary broom on front of a skid steer with tracks. Soft ground with wet snow is not a good combination.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Isn't the game in Northfield?  From what I heard they barely got 2" of snow.

Hey all - long time lurker and once upon a time registered member who has dusted off my log in. I have 30 years of SJU football history in my memory bank, and I just felt compelled to chime in. Like most SJU rubes, I am very excited about where the program is at right now, and where it seems to be headed. I was thrilled when Gary Fasching became the head coach - but he and his staff, along with the players, have exceeded my expectations in getting things back on track. I also think Jim Gagliardi deserves a lot of credit. He seemed to handle the situation from his dad retiring, to the Ramler situation, etc. very well, and has stepped back into the OC role and really has done a great job this year. The boot action/deep post pass to Bungum that went for 49 yards late in the game on Saturday was just an outstanding play call.

This is a very good SJU football team. I believe they have the elements to be one of the great SJU teams with the potential to make a run. The defense, which had been playing well all year, is really starting to be the kind of defense that can win games almost on their own with the turn-overs they create and their stingy red-zone performances (24 points allowed in the last 14 quarters against some very good offenses). The offense, which we all know can control a game with their rushing attack, has shown glimpses of big play ability through the air. In my opinion, if they can develop some consistency in the deep passing game, they will be really tough to defend.

I know I am getting ahead of myself and I am seduced by visions of a deep play-off run. The upcoming game against St. Olaf will be yet another interesting step in the progression of this team & program. You could argue it is a perfect trap game scenario - we are coming off a huge win in a very physical game. They had a bye week so will be rested and well prepared. They have nothing to lose and zero pressure. The weather will be a factor (not only the actual game but I'd imagine practice this week will be a challenge in central MN). A team ready to make a run in the play-offs would brush all of this aside and take control of the contest on Saturday. A team that might not be quite by ready for prime time could come out flat, play poorly, find themselves in a dog fight against a spirited opponent, and be put in a position where a bounce or two of a frozen football determines their fate. I am looking forward to seeing how it unfolds. My money is on a strong performance from the Johnnies.

Aaahhh - that felt good. It is good to have Johnnie football to look forward to in November again! It has been too long.

Go Johnnies!

Very true...kind of like the 1980 US hockey team...even though they beat the Soviets they still had to take care of the Fins.  Ok maybe not exactly the same but I think you get my point.

What's yellow and black with Fins down both sides?  A Floodwood school bus.  (Northern Minnesota joke)

QuoteI am wondering how the non-NCAA game against Jamestown, ND is affecting Concordia's numbers. Does it make them better or worse or neutral? On the one hand statistically speaking, 7 and 2, or 77.77% is not as "good" as 8 and 2, or 80% compared to either Bethel or St. Thomas, assuming both of these squads win out. On the other hand, we see the results of playing just one "better" team versus playing two "not so good" teams affect the SOS numbers, comparing St. Thomas and Concordia.

I also wonder about the non-NCAA win for Concordia (although irrelevant in this race). A number of years ago the Gustavus women hoopsters got credit for a victory (or didn't appear to LOSE credit for the lack of a full NCAA schedule) when they played Universidad Metropolitana of Puerto Rico. Got a bid over my CSB Blazers team. Really seems to me that NCAA teams should be required to play all their games against NCAA or have those games somehow count against them.

Schmoopdawg?

That's awfully close to an infamous character from days gone by.  But I'm not sure snoopdawg would have known about CSB since I doubt Tiger Woods ever drove snoop's king size RV there via Lake Havasu.

Welcome to the boards.
