Apologies to the D3 gang, Badger, but as a liberal Manhattanhite, I only get my news from the NY Times.

Those who read about St. Scholastica in the NYT will see them referred to as "a powerhouse" -- I think Pat Borzi knows better from my conversations with him in recent years but maybe he couched it better and the New York media elite :) pumped it up a bit.

It's like when I work for celebrity rags, and my only contribution to bettering society comes when, in my lowly role as copy editor, I change "NBA superstar Kris Humphries" to "NBA player Kris Humphries."

You probably could have downplayed the word "player" as well.

THE NIGHT BEFORE PLAYOFFS

'Twas the night before playoffs, and out at St. Johns,
The field was all shoveled...green, not white like our lawns.
A nearly perfect season, except for the Cobbers,
Who now sit on ice, watching red and white bobbers.
Knocked off the Tommies, on Summit & Cretin,
How'd they make the playoffs? Had to be cheatin'!
The Royals cruised in, still in first place,
No match for the Johnnies, they fell flat on their face.
Driving the sleigh, his new 'stache so dashing,
The team's flying high with coach Gary Fasching.
"On Martin, on Sura, on Sundly and Bungum!"
As Johnnies go, not a bad guy among 'em.
Cold weather won't matter with men hale and hearty,
All stoked to keep winning, just like with Gagliardi.
We'll gather 'round the turf near Lake Sagatagan,
Still plenty of room on the Johnnie bandwagon.
They'll drive from the Palaestra, all the way to the flag pole,
March through the playoffs, all the way to the Stagg Bowl!

GO JOHNNIES!

And if Pat Borzi, who lives in the Twin Cities, didn't know better,  I'm sure his better half did. ;D

Johnnie Red

Fins, that was a great poem! Always nice to see another attorney on the board who has the poetic skills.
Sfury, nice to see you mention my first cousin once removed, Kris Humphries. It would be great to get him up to a Stiftungfestivities tailgate in the future. We would probably want to keep Kim Kardashian away from the event.

Retired Old Rat

Fins, that is classic. It is going to be very difficult to ever top that masterpiece.

Class of 1978 shows it's incredible and expansive talents yet again.

JR, We'd also want to keep Kim away because, as you probably know from your reading of the celeb mags, Kim and your gal Paris Hilton--once the closest of friends--are now mortal enemies. I keep waiting for Paris to take you up on the invite, but we'd have to watch for fireworks if Paris and Kim were both in Collegeville.

Indeed, it is. Well done.

Might be the greatest production by the youngsters from '78 since the unreal bicentennial party in the middle of the Mississippi, which  including a tornado warning and a visit from the Coast Guard.
