Also have to consider the level of trust LL has in these coaches.  Every coach that I know typically only wants to hire other coaches that he has worked with in the past and trusts.  I'm guessing LL doesn't have a wide network of D1 coaches that he's worked closely with and he's comfortable and believes in his current staff.

Yeah I would totally see all the assistants going, and I don't think there's anything wrong with it. When a coach gets canned, the assistants usually all go as well. The school hires a new coach, the coach hires the staff he wants, and the world goes on. It's the same thing here, except it's a successful program and the assistants have an incredible opportunity. The Kill comparison is spot on--in 10 years maybe this whole crew is still together but at a Big Ten school. When SJU was replacing Gagliardi there were plenty of people who wanted a clean sweep, bring in an outsider, who would have obviously brought in his own people.

Whitewater might have to start fresh. I don't think they'll be hurting for outstanding candidates, who will then bring in their own people. Whitewater will be fine. Or maybe they won't be. That's sports. But I don't think any of the coaches can be faulted. If that means they're gutting a program, so be it.

Anybody know how many of Lance's assistants will be going with him to SUNY-Buffalo?

http://footballscoop.com/the-scoop/

"Buffalo: Lance Leipold has hired a number of assistants from his Wisconsin-Whitewater staff – defensive coordinator Brian Borland, offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki, offensive line coach Daryl Agpalsa and wide receivers coach Alan Hensell. He has also retained running backs coach Matt Simon and defensive line coach Chris Cosh from the previous staff."

If true, this is very interesting.

Oh, that's rough for the program. Hopefully LL has been a good leader and has developed his staff to fill the holes. That reads like a clean sweep of senior leadership which is tough for any organisation to weather.

EDIT: In fact it's hard to believe it's true. There must be some sort of non-compete or staff-poaching clause in senior coach contracts against this sort of thing. I think this is extremist and incorrect rumor mill rather than fact. I find the idea that someone would not only leave an organization that he's had such a good relationship with but then also gut it and leave it utterly exposed to be unbelievable. Therefore I don't believe it.

The only problem with putting a non-compete/non-poaching clause in a contract is that such a restriction will usually cost a school more money. And, most D3 schools aren't going to be willing to put up any extra cash for something that is highly unlikely to happen.

Congrats, AO. By the time the kid's ready for college school should only cost about $100,000 a year, so might be time to make the pick em's a cash-only, winner-take-all competition.

Did any Johnnie fans see any of the JV games this year? Are there any FY or Soph diamonds in the rough? We need a TE, losing both the graduation.

I saw several JV games, and also scanned Gary's final sctimes chat today. From his comments and what I saw at the JV games, I think they have several good candidates at TE. They also appear to very deep at WR, RB, DB, LB, as well as some DL freshmen and sophs. It is harder to evaluate OL. All in all, it looks like Gary and his staff have recruited well over the past two seasons.

Hearty congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. AO.  Beautiful baby.  Hope mamma and baby are both doing well.  You're at the beginning of a joyous time in life and the most important thing you will ever do.

I'm not concerned.   I think Aubrey will take after her mother.

AO I just saw a commercial on TV that could be you in a couple years... it's an insurance commercial when the dad tries to build a swing set.
The best line "Part craftsman, part artist, all dad" and 15 hours later he is still trying to put together the swing set.

Just remember don't forget to ask for help. If you think you have it figured out....ask your dad or father-in-law.

Congrats!

I know this is more appropriate on the basketball forum however...I watched about half of the the SJU / Cobbers basketball game @ Sexton Arena on the web tonight.  Video feed was great and they've added a floor cam.  Could be a hint of things to come for the 2015 football season.  Noticed some of the SJU football team in the crowd...Should be fun watching some of them make fools of themselves on Saturday as SJU hosts U$T.

Congratulations, AO!  I wish your family heaps of happiness and a little sleep, too.

Happy birthday, Bennie!  A pinch to grow an inch.

And I'm really surprised about the clean sweep at UWW. I was looking forward to the Johnnies lining up against those guys in the next few years. I hope they replace the coaches without a hitch.  As ol' #2 said: You've got to beat the best to be the best.
