Congrats, AO.  Our little girl just turned one on Saturday.  From a guy who has had one excellent sleeper and one horrible sleeper, I hope you get the former with Aubrey.  Enjoy her!

As my birthday is coming up in a couple days as well, I agree with bennie.

My condolences to ROR, who posted his new situation on the WIAC board. I always took your handle to mean that you were retired. I guess that only applies to the status as a "Rat". Good luck with the job hunt.

Congratulations AO! Looks like a great start to a nice family. Our daughters were cute little toddlers not that long ago but somehow the oldest is now a senior in high school and has an audition at the U of MN Dance Department on Saturday (she got all her moves from me) ;). Our youngest daughter is a freshman in high school and just dumped her first boyfriend! ;D

So enjoy every minute my man, before you know it that little bundle of joy will be a teenager.

Another AO!

Congrats! Nothing like it in the world ... and like Duff said, I hope she's a good sleeper. And for your sake, only 1/2 as opinionated as her dad  ;D :o ;) Seriously though, awesome news  :)

Thank you for the birthday wishes. Unfortunately, the biggest presents I got this year is a case of sinusitis with a side of bronchitis. I am planning a "do over" once I feel better!  8-)

Wow .. lots of milestones here, most fabulous.

Congrats, AO ... enjoy the ride. Belated happy birthday (and get well soon), Bennie!

Tough stuff, ROR. I found myself there over the summer. I'd never had more than two weeks away from my jobs since the mid-'70s, when our entire staff was summoned to a conference room and whacked. I spent 31/2 months in limbo before landing a new gig.

Thought about retiring, but still had too much passion for what I do. Unfortunately, there's major age discrimination out there for folks who have hit or are pushing 60 ... even at some places you wouldn't suspect. The stress of not knowing, the anticipation and the waiting stinks, but it makes the the relief all the better when something breaks. Sending good thoughts your way.

I find that hard to believe since I heard a rumour that you were the inspiration for this scene.

And now for something truly terrifying.

Another AO!

Aubrey was born dec 2nd and is doing well.  A likely future Gustie or UNWEAGLE?

Sending my congrats along as well AO. As others have already posted, they grow up fast, so don't close your eyes. My only daughter has graduated from college, gotten married and now working full time while her husband works on his Masters/Ph. D.

PS. (I've been told that ear plugs help you sleep - ha!)

I've tried it.  With our #2, it helps, but she's got a set of lungs on her, so I briefly considered ear plugs with some of my shooting ear muffs over the top.  ;D

Then, you also have to consider if your spouse will kill you!  :o

Got busted on this one when my wife was cleaning and found the set of ear plugs that I had occasionally been using.  It did not go over well.

I mean, I was still going to work, and she was basically on vacation staying at home, right?   ???

My wife and I had 4 kids in 38 months.  I do not recommend this to anyone.  Last two are twins.  MTV and VH1 were relatively new at the time.  We did not have 6,000 channels to watch.  I became very familiar with MTV and VH1 between Midnight and 5AM.  Also had several middle of the night drives with the kid(s) in the back hoping the driving would put them to sleep.

Yeah, that worked great with ours ...  right up until we turned back up into the driveway.

AO

I apparently slept through some crying the first two nights and am hopeful this trend will continue.  Maybe instead of ear plugs I will be given earphones hooked up to the baby monitor at high volumes.

Giving birth is tiring.  You can be forgiven for a little deep sleeping.

I've told my kids a few times that they're lucky God makes us love them and the police provide a backup just in case, because otherwise they would have ended up dead a long time ago.
